My outdoor autos are tiny???

Found you some information on the net you should read!
Is that it?

That's your proof?

So lets go back

Let's your tap root DOESN'T hit any resistance, the pot is 12 foot deep, so this Autoflower plant will take a year, 'cos we are still waiting for that taproot to hit the bottom of a 12 foot deep pot?

The inbuilt timer in the plant has nothing to do with it??

I'm gonna leave this here, I feel like I'm bullying the elderly, or the infirm

Jog on pal

Here is my understanding of it . Auto's have a fast seeking tap root. Once it hits bottom of a container the roots start focusing on shooting out laterally and limiting the plants over all size. I do not believe that this is a trigger for it to start flowering. As mentioned above, we have a lot of solo cup grows here and in my experience and from what I've seen in others solo cup grows is it does not cause the plant to flower early. It seems to be the same 3-5 week veg period depending on strain.

Short pots that let the roots touch the bottom earlier, indeed make the plant flower faster. You can see this with photos as well when you grow 12/12 from seed. But it is a small gain since you win roughly a week, flowering earlier than expected, but you lose in size of plant and therefore in final yield.

27 liter pot Auto . . Best plant to date [ Auto ] just over 9 ounces 85 days -- not this one -- Tap root did not hit the bottom .

I've got some really nice size autos outside the trick is planting when theres the most hours in the season an finding that spot that provides the best sun.Outdooors this can be tricky cuz your at the mercy of the weather. I do prefer the larger planter filled with organic soils an fed teas an raw organics but a small container an a pumped up regimen of chemicals well I've seen some big autos pulled that way .

Autos are on a clock, and also susceptible to stunting/precocious flowering due to root restriction. They share this root restriction flowering characteristic with many photosensitive strains, and auto-photo F1 cultivars. Just my experience. Peace.

I think it depends on the lineage?
