My outdoor autos are tiny???

To have a safe and decent harvest outdoors, whether you plant photos or autos, you must identify what signals the start of spring. Nature gives us signs that are unmistakable. For example here in Greece and all over the Mediterranean the absolute sign that spring has arrived is the date that fig trees start having their first leaves. It is safe to move your plants outdoors even start from seed outdoors. In other climates there is no way that you cannot find a natural indicator for spring, a plant coming back to life, a physical phenomenon etc. Once you take advantage of this you are going to have big and strong plants that will have very good yields. Plant in calculated intervals after this point and you will have lots of super buds.

I live in the US, 79 miles from Ontario, Canada. Snow on the ground in July in the woods some years. Get Snow in May often and not frost free until after June 21st if lucky. Got 3 inches of hail last year in September, had a few autoflowers and photoperiod outside that survived that. Big snowstorm in October. I left two huge autoflower plants to rot that were so big I couldn't get them both back into my 4x4 grow tent. I do staggered plantings. Have no way of knowing when snow or ice will happen where I live above the 45th parallel. I have seen snowstorms in June and July. I haven't been in the Mediterranean since 1980 but I bet the growing seasons beat my locale. They call the state the Winter Wonderland. I believe it is called that because you are always wondering if Winter will ever end.

July, August, September is my outdoor growing season. June and late September I move my plants inside at night, if in pots. Late September last year I didn't see the sun for 8 days, 7 days non-stop rain, bud rot, powdery mildew on plants in ground. I still managed to grow more than I can ever smoke but it adversely affected my harvest. It's legal to grow where I live as of November 2018. I just grow because it became legal.

If you are wanting to grow big auto's outdoors use a deeper container or plant straight into the ground. Autoflowers will stop vegging and start to flower as soon as the tap root hits the bottom of your container or so everything that I have heard or read states. Also read breeders genetic traits look for auto's that are naturally bigger in size the xxl auto's for instance. Something with a 120 days seed to harvest window will obviously get bigger. Marijuana plants are like Ice burgs their is more under the surface than you can see on top, so small root system = small plants. BIg roots= Big Plants. I like to plant straight into the ground after germinating in a paper towel.

This isn''t true. Auto's are on a timer, they flower after a given period, nothing to do with a tap root.

Yeah a big container will give a bigger rootball, the knock on is a bigger plant

But by your theory, I could have a pot, 20 foot deep, and the plant won't flower for a year, because we are waiting for the taproot to reach the bottom of the pot?

Well stresses induce flowering IE Hitting the bottom of a gow pot. So yes I am correct Read a book search the internet grow a auto in a solo cup for yourself and see my friend. Auto's get huge in big pots take longer to flower and veg longer so If you have any proof to discredit yeas of autoflower research Id love to hear it or read about it in a book. Cause as everything Ive read heard and seen shows I am correct so go ask anyone who knows something. A timer you say is that why every plant finishes at the same time and starts at the same time. I get that you dont understand what I am saying but dont go saying Im not correct because I am. Ruderalis were discovered back in 1924 and people have been working with them since the 70's tons of literature has been ritten about exactly what I am talking about. I have seen and proven my thero and many others are correct and anywhere you can find 20 ft of top soil you let me know I have about 4 feet of top soil before I hit gravel. So your theory of having a 20 ft deep anything is unrealistic.

Hahahaha, getting all bitchy, ggrrr, well 'ard

A plant in a solo cup, and a plant with a 20 liter pot, the same strain, will still still show sex at the same time

Hence the timer

I've just done it in my last grow :crying:

2 liter pot, 15 liter pot, both plants sexed at the same time

So WTF are you talking about?

On average, doubling pot size allowed plants to grow 43% larger. ... To understand the pot size effect, the scientists looked at various aspects of the plants' growth. They found that the plants in smaller pots grew more slowly because of a decreased rate of photosynthesis.Jul

With auto flowering plants it’s not that easy to chose the pot size because you need to think not only about the time how long will your plant live, but you need to also think about the size of the plant and how big you want it to get. Most people choose auto-flowering strains because their growing space is limited and they can’t grow plants that stretch 1 or 2 meters (3,2 or 6,5 feet) in height and pot size can greatly affect the plants height. If you plant your autoflower cannabis seed in a small container like a “Dixie cup” then it will stay short because it will become pot bound (root bound) fast and that will stress the plant slowing down the growth.

Using too small a pot
This is a common mistake that often can often lead to disappointment for the grower, who may end up harvesting a plant that's only 20 or 30 centimetres high, with a much lower yield than expected. The explanation is simple; When the seed germinates, its main taproot develops downwards in a straight line. As soon as the root tip encounters a barrier (the base of the flowerpot) which stops it growing any further, the aerial parts of the plant will cease development and soon after initiate flowering, with a much smaller structure than if it had been in a larger pot or planted in full soil, which is where these varieties offer the best performance.
To avoid this unfortunate phenomenon, we need simply use good-sized plant pots from the start, with a minimum capacity of 7L for indoor plants and 15L outdoors. This way we make sure that the plant will reach a considerable height before flowering, and be able to deliver the yields we expect

Just saying a tiny bit of info I found proving what I said earlier
