For all you lurkers.....
And hell for some of you vets that want to go over to LED. SOOOOOO many questions about light height, i know i sure as hell had them when i made the change over. There were more than just light height for me, i have a huge issue with eye balance. Where if it is out of alignment it will drive me bonkers. I like to take a step back from my tents, and make sure the lights are centered, and the main reason for that is spectrum blend and the proper over lap of the panels in the room to the height and width of the tent.
I really think that its important when running several LED's of the blurple type to make sure the blend as well as over lap is balanced. Nice thing about getting that sweet spot is i haven't had to lower my lights in a LONG time. Most of you know by now that i run 2 Platinum LED p300 panels. This is in a 3x3x5'3'' tent.
Lights are spaced as follows, the two rails that they send you are running parallel with the side rails of the tent. and spaced at 10 in centers. This measurement is taken from the rails inside the tent not the outsides. I hang from carabiners and then ratchet straps to the cables that came with the panels. Now given they are so long i fold them in half and run the clip through both loops and allow the weight of the light to center the cable as they hang. With the p300's this should give you a space from the side wall at about 8 inches and the gap between the two should be 8 inches as well. Giving you a proper overlap to use the center and not loose anything to footprint. My lights end up being about 32-34 inches above my plants and they seem to love it. Pots are 5x5x7 hydro farm square pots. Love the drop in these, should allow for a medium size plant in a small foot print. Hold about .5 gal of medium.
This is what it looks like when im done. Also still gives me enough room for a 6in in-line fan and carbon filter.
