Dutch Passion My first hydro grow: 2 DP StarRyder, GHE Waterfarm, 150W HPS and tons of questions

Well, last time - which was 2 AutoMazars on soil in 7l pots, same HPS but using a 125W bloom CFL for the grow phase (I was forced to) - I got 60g each, so 120g in 0.4m² which translates to 300g/m² and that seemed like a good benchmark for my future grows.

I know others yield much much more from single plants but they always use bigger tents for them (1m² or more per plant) so if you do the math mine actually didn't turn out that bad last time :D

@Keyser

Haha, thank you for your reply.

Honestly, I was gettig anxious ;Pn
I see now that autos are kinda "tougher nut to crack ;P

Time for another update. I watered again today (day 49 from seed), they seem to currently be in the pre-flower stretching phase; #1 is now a little bit over 55cm tall and #2 is a bit over 60cm high.
That means both gained roughly 10cm in 4 days, or an inch a day.
I've changed the nutrient solution to add 2.5ml/10l of PK13/14 and adjusted the EC to 1.8mS; I think that might have been a bit too early but if the plants are to finish at day 84 from seed I had to in order to follow Hesi's schedule.

Today is day 53 from seed. I fed them again at EC 1.8mS, they're 75 and 80cm tall now (5cm/2" a day for the last four days) and their stems are 2.3 and 3cm thick at the bottom.

I lowered the lamp back to ~25cm above the canopy. Temps are 23-25°C during the day and around 18-20 at night. I'll be trimming some bottom leaves soon.

Things should hopefully start to get interesting soon, I can't wait to finally get a peak at those ladies' racks :toke:

Nice job Keyser....

You're too kind, thanks :D I'm just surprised I haven't managed to kill them so far. Obviously I didn't double tap...

Sorry but I didn't get to post when the last update was due so we'll just have two updates this time.

Day 57 from seed:

Day 60 from seed:

They're 105cm (#1) and 110cm high now, I didn't really expect that as the DP description speaks of 50cm average, 100cm only for "the very best growers" and I'm certainly not that. Are there lighting problems? Doesn't look like that to me but who knows.
That's why I couldn't take any root pics this time, I simply can't lift their pots up anymore without disconnecting the pumps and moving them out of the room so... I figured I might save myself some work and just post 3 pics per update from now on.

Due to their size and the relatively low wattage of my lamp I had to free them of around 35cm of lower leaf and bud growth but that was going to be popcorn anyway.
That also helped reduce RH and it doesn't smell strange at the lower plant levels anymore, it was a big wet bush down there. We're at 23-25°C and 55-60%RH during the day. I wish RH was lower but winter is sticking it to my plans though luckily it doesn't seem to have caused any problems so far, the plants look healthy to me.

The plant peaks are around 20cm away from the center of the lamp and roughly 10cm below it. The plants get between 40k and 60k lux at the peaks and around 30k straight below the lamp at leaf level.
I'm thinking about changing the fans, either putting the 20cm fan behind the lamp and replacing the two fans there or removing the 20cm fan and adding 2 more 12cm fans below the lamp, I'm not sure yet.

I removed the lower leaves in two stages (3 days ago and yesterday) and it looks like that slowed vertical growth back down to 2.5cm a day, hopefully it stops soon or I'll have to apply some bondage but I'd rather just see how they do and let them grow naturally this first time.
They look sativa dominant to me and have no specific smell so far, just "green" at night.

We're right in the middle of bloom (nutes and lamp) week 3, will they finish on schedule? Stay tuned to find out! :joint:
