I turned off the light and took some pics last night. I dig how they look like snow covered pines!
I only dry in brown bags since my climate here is different every month... It just makes it easier. Just keep an eye on the bags every morning and night after about 5 days or so. I mix the buds in the bags with a long spoon so the trichomes don't stick to my hands and arm hair, every day. As things start to dry you can combine multiple bags together. When I think I'm close I'll fill half a jar and check with a hydrometer. I'm always early... Once you get into the 65-70% range you gotta pay attention or you can drop into the 50s overnight sometimes. I use the liquor store sized bags doubled up bought from Amazon and you're probably gonna need a bunch. Totally reusable though (currently chopping and bagging)I’m trying to put together my plan for drying. I have to do it in the grow shed and therein lies a problem. The shed is about 250 sq ft. My outside humidity averages 80-90% so I bought a 50 pint dehumidifier. It’s awesome and can get my room humidity to down to 45 and I need to run the window AC to keep tent down to mid-high 70s while light is on from 2pm-6am. It would need to run 24hours to keep shed at its coolest which is about 62-65 degrees during the day.
The problem is I can’t have the dehumidifier, AC, and tent light on at the same time as it draws too much power. So I’m gonna put hygrometers around the shed and experiment with different combinations at different times and I’m wondering what is the most “extreme” environment I can get away with for drying? Such as the highest room temp and highest humidity I can allow in the shed? I think higher temps lose the taste/smell? Thats not really a concern to be honest, I’m only worried about losing potency and getting it too dry for long term storage. Thank you so much for any advice, starting to stress about destroying my beautiful plants! Peace
Pretty much where I am too. Just less hassle and more flexible than hanging to dry. I have a pile of bags about six inches deep waiting for the next grow.I only dry in brown bags since my climate here is different every month... It just makes it easier. Yeah I’m sold on the bag idea. I think I still have a couple weeks til drying but I’m excited already. Thanks again for some great input you guys are the best!Pretty much where I am too. Bags work well, at least they have yet to fail for me. I am careful to test in the jars (or Grove bags) early to make sure I don't over dry the buds. If RH is a bit high, make sure the bottom of the bags are elevated so the bottom can breathe. Good luck with it mate, you are headed for a fantastic result on your first grow.Yeah I’m sold on the bag idea. I think I still have a couple weeks til drying but I’m excited already.
