Having something to smoke is a win to me and having something to smoke on while i try and grow better bud is a double win.

How close is northern lights? ive heard they take 100days on avg sometimes more.
First off, the yield from my purple punch plant was:

Bud in jars: 42.3 grams
Trim/larf: 17.3 grams
Total: 59.6 grams, or 2.12 ounces

Considering how rough this plant had it, that is better than I expected.

As for the northern lights plants — I’m about to check the trichomes and share some pics with y’all, to get your opinions. They’re on Day 72, but their leaves are looking faded and rough, and I’m not sure how much longer I can/should take them.

2oz a plant is still really good :smoking: great job!

Thanks for the rep, guys!

Okay, here are the Northern Lights plants, both on Day 72. I'd like to let them go longer, as i'd like at least one of these to produce a couch-locky buzz, but I'd like to make sure you guys think it'll do them good.

Thankfully both of these girls have buds with density -- they actually feel like weed buds, unlike the purple punch larf-fest.

Wonderful job my friend! You are gonna be a fantastic grower. You didn’t let anything deter you from your goal! Keep it up.
I picked my last grow at about that and kind of wish I let her go another week.

How did your leaves look in comparison? I specifically want to let these go longer, but I really struggled with nutrients on my first grow here and I’m just concerned the leaves are too rough to let them keep going.

I think she looked like she could go another month, lol. Not really but at least another couple weeks. I forgot you were having issues.

I would go by the inner fan leaves to judge dryness of the buds them selved. Oddly enough, the grow before last looked similar to yours. Buds were dense but super crispy. Tough cure. It smokes but I know I can do better.

Your trichs are looking nice though but not a lot of amber but i hear that some plants dont amber. There are still some clear one here and there too. I feel it will always be one of those things you wish you did differently everytime you grow.

Nice, thanks for that post. The tall girl is looking more depleted and she didn’t plump up much while I was gone on vacation, so I think I’ll give her a night or two of darkness and then chop her. The short girl really beefed up while I was gone, so think I’ll give her at least another week. Would be good to space out trim jobs a bit anyway, and this’ll hopefully let me try the same type of flower at different stages of trichome development.

My concern that I might over-dry my fluffy, loose purple punch buds over a six-day vacation were valid: after a day in the jars, the internal RH was about 52%. I've gone ahead and added 62% Boveda packs to each jar, which I was hoping to not do until after traditional burb curing.

I've heard differing opinions on burping when using Boveda packs. Most on the internet seem to suggest you should still burp as you would without the packs, whereas the video the Boveda folks posted suggests that burping just makes the packs have to work harder and the packs have to "start over" every time.

Wondering how you guys feel about burping 1) when using Boveda packs and 2) when the bud is starting off too dry?

Set it and forget it! I find that the bovedas work really well to raise and hold the humidity level. I would say to leave them closed. If it stops rising you may need to add another packet depending on the size of the jar. Slow and steady is best.
