I’ll be drying my plants in a 2x4x4 tent with an in-line fan and carbon filter for odor control.

Do y’all think I’ll need a small fan inside the tent as well, obviously aiming away from the buds—or will the in-line turned up a decent amount provide enough air movement? I’m thinking the in-line is probably more than enough, especially in a drying environment so small.

"alex, i'll take the xtra small fan for 100 plz, ty" :smoking: ppp

I would have a fan inside blowing at the tent walls or something like that but its up to you, it should be fine with just the in-line fan. i see people drying in brown bags in refrigerators and such and they do fine. We want a slow dry for the win so maybe no extra fan will make it slower of a dry with RH about 50-60%. I kind of speed dried mine and they get me blazed as fuck so i don't think you can mess this up like i was thinking i would mess mine up, good luck with the bud drying.

I used the brown bag method my last grow and I also hung some up for comparrision. I had the extractor fan on but not my small round. Tent was in the low 60's F and low 50% rh. I really like how the brown bag buds came out especially with the wet trim.

Okay, last update before I leave for six nights tomorrow. My plan is to chop the purple punch before I leave, and to let the others go and have my friend just water them when I'm gone, then I'll reevaluate when I get back. I'd love any advice you might have on this plan.

PURPLE PUNCH
I guess I'm going to have to chop my sad girl before I leave. Honestly, the way she's going, I think I should have probably chopped her last week. She's on Day 73. I'm afraid she's going to dry too much while I'm away, as her buds are light and airy. I'll leave all of the "leaves" on her, I'll leave her whole, and I'll have the inline fan in her tent on low and the hanging fan pointing away from her and on low as well. Humidity in the tent is around 60%, which is a bit higher than I was hoping for, but with an inline and hanging fan, it might end up helping my girl dry a bit longer. Hope she can wait until I get back a week from today.

NORTHERN LIGHTS #1
Like all three of my plants, this girl isn't exactly the picture of health, but her buds feel and smell the best. Really nice candy/bubblegum smell. Mm. I think I can let her go with just water until I get back. She's on day 64.

NORTHERN LIGHTS #2
So different from her sister, short, golf-ball style buds, but at least she's starting to smell like something. I don't know exactly what, but it's better than smelling like nothing, as she did before. The buds on both of these NLs feel pretty dense to me.

I'm wondering if I should defoliate her more before I leave.

My first chop is in the books. The sad purple punch is hanging whole in the dry tent. Here’s hoping she doesn’t dry too much in six days and I get something worth smoking out of her. We shall see.

Woohoo good job man she made it! Keep the rh around 55-60% and it should take 10-14 days maybe a tad less. The dying plant has a hard time drying out past the room's RH so just try not to dry her to fast ;)

Nice, good info, thanks. My RH is generally between 60 and 63. I have the inline exhausting at a low speed, keeping the air fresh, and a small fan on low hanging and blowing toward the bottom of the tent. As long as she doesn’t dry too much in the six days I’m gone, I’ll be good.

You will be fine and I'm betting it takes longer than 6 days :smoking:
When you hear snaps and cracks on the stems she is ready if it bends and makes no sound she will need more time. The smaller stems will dry faster than the big ones so try a few sizes when testing, good luck man.

Back from my vacation, and of course the first thing I did was check my tents.

My purple punch plant has been hanging in the dry tent for six days now. I did the stem test and the small branches are mostly snapping but staying connected, not snapping apart. The Buds are so incredibly airy (and honestly kinda pathetic), so I think it’s probably ready to go into jars. Maybe I’ve even over-dried them, just because they don’t really have any density. I think I’ll do the joint test this evening. This will not be top shelf weed!

The buds on the northern lights plants look great to me, and got bigger, though the leaves are about done for. Will post some pics in a bit. I’m going to check the trichomes later as well. I’m thinking I may turn the lights off tonight and give them a day or two in the dark and then chop.

Throw a little hygrometer in the jars and you will know how to correct the rh inside. i jarred mine to early as it was not breaking up or grinding like i wanted lol, i ended up having to un jar them and lay them out on carboard for a few hours and rejar until i got to 60-64%. what i thought was done was actually 70-80% rh inside the jar on a few.
