Grow Mediums My First Grow DWC Black Cream All Help is appreciated

Yep, there is no way to know the calibration fluids are the correct ph unless your meter is calibrated and there is no way to know your meter is calibrated unless you use calibration solutions. They are cheap, like $10, so I think it is worth it just to be safe.

Yeah that makes sense haha. ill run back up to the hydro shop. How long do you think I should wait after she sprouts to put her in the bucket, and get the drip ring going?

Alright so I decided to put my little seedling under my metal hallide. She is still not in the bucket because I feel she is a little small, but if one of you experts think I should I'm prepared to get it going right now. Should i start at 250 watt or go ahead and put it on the 400 watt setting? Currently it's running on 400 watts and its a little bit more than 2 feet away. I went back to the shop, and got the calibration solution as a420er recommended. She is still a wee lil sproutling, but my friend told me I should go ahead and start letting her soak up the rays. I have a fan blowing on low because I figured it would help the area stay at least somewhat cooled, but I made sure it's not blowing on the baby girl.

Anything I'm doing wrong? Please critique I'd appreciate it

So the ph meter I got was kind of screwy. I picked a cheap one that the dude had no experience, and I think I may have gotten a faulty product because even with the ph reference solution 7.0 it would not stay calibrated. I'd test the same water, and get completely different readings. I'm going to go back in tomorrow to see if I may can try, and get another one maybe get him to help me calibrate it there just to make sure I know what I was doing. It took me till almost the end of the bottle to realize it might the ph meter, and not me. I followed the instructions precisely, and still got no good results. Luckily I still have the receipt. The ppm meter works so far.

On another note a root just popped out the rock wool should I transplant it tomorrow when I can check the ph correctly or should I wait a few more days? Please one of you hydro masters give my questions a read.

Ok so my little girl seems like she is not doing to well. I decided to give her four hours of lights out, and when I came back she was fine. So I turned the MH back on at 400 watts. An hour later I came back and she was hunched over. So I decided to look, and see how her root was. It looked dried out, and I'm not sure how it happened. I've been adding a little bit of the water I used for germination to keep her moist. The rock wool felt dry. So I added a little bit more water. Currently I'm pretty worried. I'm gonna go check on her again in an hour and hopefully she'll be better. Any idea what could have caused this? I've done a pretty good job of making sure the root did not see any light.

Alright so I fell asleep, but when I woke up she already is standing back up on her own. I'm really confused. I'm scared to look at the root right now so I planned to let it chill for the night. She is about 2 and a half inches well around there not exactly. Tomorrow morning I'm going to transplant her cause I think it's about time. My buddy is coming to help me calibrate my instruments cause I have no idea what im doing with the ph meter. The ph meter I bought is kind of low quality, and I believe I calibrated it right however it just won't stay on the right measurements. I'm excited for tomorrow haha. I'm going to rewire my little set up because the bulb is a little to close to the wall for my comfort. I'll upload my first picture tomorrow after it's all set up.

So my she has just been placed in her new home. Here is everything. Ill post more when there is more progression.

When filing up the res other day we put about .5 ml of flora grow, florabloom, and floralicious plus; I also put in about 1 ml of flora micro, and about 1.2 of rapid start per gallon. The ph value came out to about 5.7

Today I noticed the reservoir was running low on the water so I decided to top it off with some nutrient water however I was really out of it, and somewhat messed up my measurements/conversion. I actually wasted an entire gallon of nutrient water because I put in almost the full 2 ml of the flora micro, and close to the full 2.5 ml of rapid root. This was a mistake I realized a little bit later while I was playing games. As soon as I realized I began correcting my mistake.

I dumped out the reservoir, scrubbed it down, and added my new nutrient water, and replaced my seedling. She did get a little bit of the overpowered nutrient water, and I am kind of worried about that. My new ph reading is 6.2. I was wrong when I stated earlier that the gh water farm holds 3 gallons it actually has a 2 gallon res. I went to lowes today, and got a five gallon bucket that I plan to use for my next grow instead of the two gallon. Anyone notice anything I forgot or they think I should do please let me know. Or even if everything seems good just let me know so I can stop being so paranoid.

So is there any reason I should be paranoid about the tips of the leaves curling?

Yes, that is something to worry about. Unfortunately, I am not the one to help solve this one. I have no hydro experience at all. Let me see if I can get you some help.
