Very good advice for the more warm months. You can also adjust your day cycle to be during the night when its cooler, and rates may be less.
I think we are at like .129ish/kWh here, but we also got solar installed when we bought this house and it was installed about 2 weeks after I started my first seeds, which more than covers my tent usage. This months bill showed 800+kwh on the electric bill, with an additional 600+kwh collected by the panels. Running the whole tent full blast runs me just under 361kWh for a 31 day billing period, and even with Dec and Jan being our worst months so far for production (which is totally logical and expected) it's still more than covered my energy usage for the tent. Imo its a good option for those who can do it, though I know it can be cost prohibitive and isn't really possible unless you own your home.Very good advice for the more warm months.
I'm pretty lucky with my cost of electricity. I'm a member of a coo-op. I was a member at my farm also. It's still a very good option, especially for rural living. My effective cost, taxes and fees, is 0.1140/kwh. Now if I had friggin gas heat, I'd be ecstatic!
I haven't figured what my monthy cost in growing. It is what it is. Just a 'nessisary evil' of growing my and others meds. Just because my costs are low, doesn't mean I don't try to run most effeciently, but with quality in mind.
My house stays at 67-69* year round, I have a massive heat intolerance as it triggers some of my autism stuff and causes me to get majorly irritable lol. Great in the winter cause I can just set the heat to 65, sucks in the summer.I ain't worried about what it takes for my grow stuff, but when my GF has to be COOOOL, my meter spins like a top. Hot costs I guess but I like it.

Hubby knows that if I start getting really cranky, turning the thermostat down and bringing me food usually fixes itI hate the heat as well. I don't believe it has any medical effect on me. It makes me lethargic and honestly kinda angry. I thought I was getting away from it when I left TX to be with my (now) wife here in Los Angeles. But NOPE, sometimes it is even worse, especially since we rarely get rain here.
I always run my lights 18/6 from 6PM-12PM year round though, as they will just be off during the warmest part of the day. Beneficial in the winter too as they are on during the coldest parts. I suppose it may not be as big of a factor if you're in the house, I'm about to find out I guess. As this is the first time in ages, since the relocation, where I won't be vegging in the house then moving to flower in the garage. Just going full tilt indoors now.
