Lol.. thanks for that compliment man. Appreciate it. She's actually a photo. A Jack 33. She was vegged for 3 weeks but when she stretched.. she stretched!! I've already chopped a couple of colas off of her to keep me going and I have to say she's a head-masher when she's early. Looking forward to her when she's mature. I want to do one of those under a scrog one day with 8 weeks of veg. :smokebuds:
I had a bit of an accident last night and somehow - I do not know how - damaged the main stem so the whole thing had almost fallen off. Tried repairing it but it didn't take, so I've lost the whole top of the automatic. The rest of it looks like it'll survive but that's just wiped out half the yield at least!! Cest la vie.
Check out the horror:
And the moral of this tale is don't go into your grrom late at night when you're caned out of your eyeballs and start training with materials that can apparently cut through entire stems like a scalpel!
So that was all a bit on an anti climax.. but what can ya do eh.
Uhh.. The roots are still there and the auxins are going to go somewhere. I bet you will be surprised at what happens next.
I see three extra fat buds in your future.
For a photo I'd not be worried as that's what I'd expect to happen, too.. but for autos this'll be my first main stem breakage so I'm curious to see if it redirects the auxins in time. Obviously it will redirect them, but she's 3.5 weeks old now so I'm expecting the veg spurt to stop soon.
You''re right, though.. there still remains a few good potentials so I'm gonna keep her going til the end. It's a fucker though eh!
Yeah. It cost ya. Did the wire grow in to the stem? I wouldn't expect her to stop stretching till there was some nice pop corn on top. If you was to ever try and FIM one it looks to be a healthy plant and maybe just a tad bit late. Should be interesting. I just couldn't bring myself to do it either.
I'm not 100%.. I don't think she had a wire on that point of the stem so I suspect that what I did was while pulling a wire off of another stem, I must have dragged it across the main one and cut into it. It's the only thing I can think happened.
Fair point about when she'll stop stretching.. I guess I'm unwittingly going into worst-case-scenario mode after the accident. In contrast, though, it's not all bad news.; the SAS is, so far, the best one of that strain I've grown so I think I miiiiiiiiiiight just leave her alone now and let her do her thing without any more training. Don't wanna temp fate and all that
