I just harvested my first (of many more to follow) auto and after drying while doing the final manicure before curing I have found, so far, 29 seeds- with 25 being mature viable new plants.

The strain was Barney Farms Purple Punch and total time from germ to harvest was 65 days with yield of 7.25 ounces grown in soil, tent, LEDs, 20 hours light, fes nutes daily

I'm sure I'm not the first so I'd love to hear from others who had similar experience.

From what I've read they needed to be pollinated (Hermis aren't possible with an auto?????) and while I did have 3 male plants (photo plants grown outdoors not in the tent with the autos) I chopped them down at the first sign of male so I didn't think pollination was likely.

Looks like the pics I took on my old iPhone are not the right type file so I can share pics

Your plant was more than likely a herm. If so, the seeds will carry that gene. Some people will try grow them out. Personally, if it hermed, I toss the seeds. When a plant begins producing seeds, its focus is no longer producing THC at the same rate as an unpopulated plant. It is an unwanted genetic expression.

Having males outdoors could certainly pollenate indoor girls. But, if you culled them when they showed sex, then that is not the likely issue here.

Maybe autos in their pure ruderelous form wouldn't herm, but, all those great photo strains being bred in are bring it along, unfortunately, many of the big name strains are herm prone.

Looking at your genetics, Granddaddy purple is in there, she's known to throw a sack.

Just my theory.
Neighborhood male plants.
Pollen has been known to travel up to 20km(12 miles) and pollenate female plants.
I do prefer the hermie theory proposed:thumbsup:

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not sure what a female plant pollinated looks like so I'll have to look that up.

I also grew a Gorilla Glue #4 (also an auto) from FastBuds that I can see a few little "seed pods) I believe, I'll have to see once its manicure time it has about 4-5 more days before its curing time.

The Nova OG didn't have any seeds but she was stressed from day 3 and never really produced much. Autos are brand new to me and there has been a little learning curve.

Presently I've got Strawberry Milkshake by BSB Gentics, Blackberry by Fastbuds, and Northern Lights x Big Bud all autos growing .

This auto thing is a kick in the ass.

All this is unrelated to the original post but hey, I've got ADHD

Not sure if these pics will work

Its my Northern who just started to flower pre and post defoliate she cracked her shell 35 days ago

If the GG actually has GG4 in its lineage, that could do it. GG#4 ( photo ) is well known for needing to be watched for male bits.

@Reefnjunkie :welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome:Wind driven pollen or Hermie both are viable scenarios. If you can grow outdoors Pop a few of those seeds and see what happens. If they hermie toss the rest of the seed. If not then are the characteristics worth future grows? Were they pollinated by hemp or cannabis? "Seeds are like a box of chocolates, you just never know what you will get."

Your plants look healthy

Thanks, glad to have found this place.

I can grow outside but the days are shorter and rain will be here before they'd be ready (Pacific Northwest) and yield would be poor I'd suspect since they're autos

I'll need to do some looking around but the feel is that Hermis are bad??

Wouldn't the seed carry the same genetics as the plant it came from? I assumed that was so and that my only concern would be if it was male/female even though it came from a feminized auto. I'm not sure if all autos are feminized is why I mention that. I assumed if it grew into a female I'd have another Purple Punch with the same genetics-

Thanks for the welcome!

Hopefully that makes sense,

If the seed is the result of a hermie, S1 the resulting seeds will hermie at least 50% of the time and usually more. Othter traits of the parents are passed on as well but a for sure 50% hermies is not worth time and risk. The thing is if you did not see the pollen sac or nanners then this could be wind born. They might be the next huge cross? Keep the seeds until next year and just grow 10 and see what you get. Or just throw them away and buy seeds from reputable breeders. I belong to CSA Cannabis Seeds Anonymous I am a seed whore. If I never buy another seed I can grow for 7 years. I just cannot help myself.

Maybe I should of mentioned I've found 29 seeds out of close to 4 ounces.

From little time I've had tonight to look up hermies, these buds didn't look like that, no nanners, pollen sacs etc

I saw mention of seeds being from stress but I need to read more on that.

Seemed like hermies would have clusters, (although maybe sometimes small) of seeds, what I got was more like a seed or two while manicuring larger buds

Im not trying to be thick headed just curions and asking questions - still a noob here

Thanks again for the replies-I work on the pics if that could help- Unless its black and white already :oops1:
