New Grower My 1st Grow, A journey...

Hey! DoctaP thanks man! I would like to take credit but I do think the nutrients have a good bit to do with it. They have a sample pack the RockBox that should grow at least a half dozen from start to finish, probably more. It's a pretty good deal to. I got mine on eBay.

I just checked on the little budlet I trimmed, drying nicely. I noticed that I did not trim it so I took a moment to do so. Damn! That little thing was crunchy, my trim scissors gummed up after the second snip. I have had some sticky bud before but this was seriously crunchy. Oh boy four days to go, I am sooo psyched ( a wee nervous too).

Good morning gardeners!
The grow looks great. Anticipating the harvest now. Trimmed a that wee bud, first time I trimmed. Need to do my homework on this process. The trimming scissors gummed up after two little snips and the bud was crunchy for lack of a better description. Prolly cause I trimmed it after it dried a bit.
Still not 100% sure, but I am going to start CC on the flush, I will water her untill run off every other day for a week and see if she starts to yellow a bit. Right now she is still quite green, once flushing is underway I expect her to start feeding upon her reserves and begin to yellow.

OK here's a question. Are they always this frosty? I see the stuff in the magazines, I see the see catalog pictures, I see my plants, I think mine look about the same if not more covered. I am just curious
From my very limited grow experience, these are as frosty as you can get! I have only grown one strain out that was this frosty. I'm sure I have said it before, but you have the gift to grow my friend. The growing itself is SO addicting.

Take her slow brother, I hadn't medicated with our favorite plant for 27 years. One toke at first should take away your pain and any worries. Enjoy!

What do you mean crunchy? The bud, or the sugar leaves?
How is its density / Spongy-ness when you squeeze it?

The small buds, especially when they are no longer connected to the stem dry out quite fast. After about 5 days in a low humidity environment (30-35%)even large colas the size of two soda cans are dried for me. I over-dried many smaller buds on my first harvest overestimating how long it would take. Now I use boards humidity packs and a calibur IV hygrometer so I can be certain what the moisture levels are.

What's the RH at in the room the bud is drying in? If it is below like 45% and you clipped it sunday, I would bet it's ready for a jar. It may turn harsh by the time Saturday rolls around especially after hearing how you described its texture.

Gerber baby food jars are awesome for small amounts of bud. I buy a bunch at a time, they're only like 50 cents.

Hey thanks SB. The sugar leaves were still not dry, the bud was crunchy. Crunchy was how the resins felt the bud itself was reasonably dense and seemed dry enough, it was the trichomes that seemed to add the "crunch". I'll check the little guy and pop it into a jar if it seems dry enough. The vaporizer states it need dry material, so I may be getting carried away. I am researching drying and curing ATM... You know me, gotta go way to far into it!!

Edit: Budlet is now in a jar. Looks a bit lonely in that big old jar.

Mr.wwwillie lol what can I say other then :jaw:so frosty i can hardly see the leaves anymore haha. Great job man u convinced me to start my pks on some rock ferts. idk if ill get the whole line up by the time my grow is done but I'll most def. be getting that resinator. It looks like it works wonders so ill apply it w/ my ff trio nutes for now and see how it develops.Lookin forward to your

harvest pics, I know I can expect some crazy in dept photos and alot of em heheh.Keep up the good work man! Your progress so far has been amazing.

If you are using the granulars..(cha-ching, beastie bloom ect...) take one plant and set it aside and run just resinator. On the other ones just run what you would normally run...check the difference.

:)

Haha yeah I'm the exact same way. Alot of air to bud ratio in a big jar, so it should continue to dry a bit but atleast it shouldn't get too dry. A good trick if it seems too dry is to drop a fan leaf in the jar to add some extra moisture. I forgot you were using the vape, so thay should be fine.

My first harvest all the plants collapsed on eachother from the weight at only 62 days. I planned on taking them 90 but the damn things got too big too fast and I did an inadequate job tying the branches up. Got a killer haul, but needless to say they weren't flushed whatsoever, and had been on a heavy diet to fuel their growth. The buds were so dense and I was terrified of mold, and let it all dry out for 7 days to be safe. Crazy strong smoke, but so harsh. Brutally harsh.

Nothing is more heartbreaking than doing a great job all he way through, and then dropping the ball at the end and winding up with harsh smoke with very little flavor profile. I abandoned my grow journal and went into a state of mourning following the unexpected tragedy.

Anyway, take it from somebody who had to learn the hard way. It would be a great investment to get some of those boveda 65% humidipacks and a calibur iv hygrometer before your main harvest. You'll rest easy knowing your buds are curing properly, and out of harms way with mold. It will only set you back like 35 bucks. Otherwise it will be difficult to say with any confidence whether or not you are "Doing it properly". And if your anything like me, that uncertainty will haunt you haha

Anyway, I will be looking forward to the report of your Saturday. Nothing like popping that homegrown lung cherry :smoke:

Tomorrow night, test taste!!!

Good morning Gardeners!
Brrr it was cold last night. Temp in the tent got down to 68. I bumped the thermostat on the heater, want to keep at 70 lights out and 77 or so lights on. Watering a wee bit this AM to hold over until tonight. Everyone will get a good watering of pH'd aftw until runoff. BDM will get fed on Sunday and CC will just get water again as I am starting the flush. It's over 90 days and she looks ready enough. So water only until chop time. Unless someone has a beter idea, anyone? BDM probably make another two feedings yet for about 70+ days till flush starts. We'll see what she has to tell us and go from there.

Warm and dry in the tent tonight. Bumped up the thermostat to compensate for the fan (can't wait to see next month's electric bill, yow!) It's been below zero to a high in the low teens for the last week, the humidity level is really low. Works out great for me with the flowering going on.
Got some Boveda 62% packs and some pint and quart jars. Ya I know quarts jars, not to optimistic am I!! Still working out the drying, I am thinking of making a box of some sort with racks and such. Who knows I'll probably hang them in the tent!
Tomorrow night! Man it was easier waiting all these months than it is to wait these last hours!
