The Bad Betty and Pakistani Ryder have both been cut, dried and are curing. Despite being stunted early on due to some pH issues, the yields were still respectable. 48 grams on the BB and 49 on the PR. Even though the PR was a bit taller, the BB made up for it with some dense buds, some of the hardest I've seen on an auto. Here's a couple pictures, BB on the left, PR on the right.
Once they are cured a little more I'll have more info on how they smell and taste. From the samples I've taken so far, both are excellent. The BB has a strong indica hit and a bit of couch lock. The PR is heavily crystalized. The stone is strong indica but a little more up than it's photo parent, Pakistan Valley.
I had seeded a branch of each with some BB pollen. I harvested the seeds today and got 66 on the PR and 120 on the BB. I've got two other grows started but after they are done, I'll be trying some of the PR x BB seeds. If I get something good I may work it a bit and see if I can't develop it into something.
I know some of you are also interested in the Samurai Jacks. They have been a bit of a disappointment. It seems that they are much better suited to outdoor growing, or at least in a larger indoor area than what I have. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they are bad, just not suited for indoors under LED. One of them is finally starting to finish up. It has some descent buds and should yield several ounces. The other was very slow to flower and I'm running out of time with it. They both need to come out in another 2 weeks as I've got other plants to go into that area.
One interesting aspect of the SJ grow has been how good the Blackstars are penetrating. On the bigger of the two plants, I've got the light up as high as it will go, about 6' above the floor. The lowest buds on the plant are about 4.5' away from the light. Those buds are just as big as the ones on the top. I wouldn't have expected them to penetrate that well at that distance, but they are doing a great job. Hmmm, almost makes me want to try a couple photos under them.
