Can you use the water from the dehumidifier to irrigate with? Or is that a bad idea?
I almost did it this morning! I think you sorta can? I guess I should test the rh.

Maybe someone knows the answer to that too

It's basically distilled water. I used to drain my dehumidifier directly into an swick bed.

that's what I'm reading. Chech ph, and basically very low ppm. So maybe add some nutes in, and check ph before use. Could be a good way to use it!

Thanks guys!

@Mañ'O'Green tagging you in here because you seem like you have your watering game down. I had a question or two and didn't want to start a new thread or clog someone else's.

Q1) I know you've said don't water before lights out, and I water within 2 hours of lights on for both my tents. My veg plants aren't getting a ton of water right now as they are still smaller, the flower room is a different story. A couple of the plants love to drink. I feed/water at about 2pm every day, and in the morning by around 7am (lights out at 8) a few will be bone dry. There will be a slight moisture in the soil, but not really and very light.

I do not water them, and wait until lights come back on, but should I give them just a hit to make it through lights out?

Q2) I am watering about 8-9 gallons in the flower tent a day on average. I have a 2.5 gallon water jug, I overfill to close to 3 gallons and I fill it 3 times each water for the flower tent. My dehum in the flower tent is pulling out maybe 60 pints a day, it shuts off from being filled if I don't empty it twice a day. It has a 50pint container, but between the two times I empty I am probably dumping 60-70ish every 24 hours. The one outside the tent might pull 3/4 of its 50 pint a day, but thats mostly atmosphere and high RH expelled from the tent.

That's basically everything I put in though for the flower tent. Is that normal?

TIA :toke:
The reason you do not water until two hours after lights on is this: During the night the plant is feeding the root Biome with substances that stimulate the microbes to produce the nutrients the plants want. When the day starts the plant takes in those nutrients from around the roots. If you water too soon that will wash those nutrients away from the roots without time for the plant to assimilate them.

Then don't water after 2 hours before lights out. This is so the plant is not pulling too much water in and making the leaves water heavy at lights out. This helps prevent wet leaves after dark when it is cooler and more likely to form powdery mildew. If you are having trouble keeping your plants wet enough to make it through the night going to 1 hour before lights out is a better option than doing it at lights on.

If that is still not enough go to a larger pot next time. Perhaps a better water holding soil?

This is a very bad idea unless the dehumidifier has been built specifically for this purpose. The problem is lead and aluminum leaching. The coils may have been soldered with lead in the solder. This is poisonous to you and your plants. The other problem is with aluminum or copper leaching which is also toxic.

Ah yes, I did know that. Brain off. Lol thanks for the reminder.

Well now my dumb question is immortalized instead of just inside my head until later.

Thanks for responding! They are in 5 gallon pots, and not all the plants do it. It seems like during certain points of flowering when the plants are really working it seems to use it all up. I did add a decent bit of extra perlite to the soil, do you think not doing that would help? Otherwise I’ve really liked the soil and would prefer to keep it if possible.

You took it for the team bud. Sleep well knowing you sacrificed yourself for your teammates.

Are the plants limp in the morning? A 5 gallon pot should hold more than enough water overnight for even a very large plant.

Did those pots ever get too dry? maybe you have hydrophobic pockets in the pot that are not getting wet at all. Try adding a surfactant to your fertigation.

They used to, but I’ve been watering every day for a while now and now I don’t get any droop.

The surfactant is a good idea thanks!

Some shots from day 63. Didn’t take two out of the tent while I was moving things around so didn’t get shots of them all. I lowered the lights a few inches. Closest ones are 15inches the shortest are 31 or so. Should prob put risers on buckets or something to keep it even but... next time.

So either 1 of two things is happening. Either I’m getting some stress from moving the light (would be showing super fast like 24 hours) or I’m entering the last two weeks or so and things are about to get chunky!

Due to seeing new and bigger white hairs growing, I was at first worried it was light issues. But since looking into it further, I think it’s the Sativa putting out a final push. It’s happening to the lower buds as well, which is why I’m thinking it’s healthy.
