Grow Mediums Mom's Autocob, Autoflower, Autopot Grow

Thanks guys :)

I believe it only hooks up to a pc/mac computer

From the manufactures site
Q: Will this work on my iPad/iPhone or other iOS device?
A: No, this will not work. iOS devices do not have support for external USB cameras.

I was able to use this on my Windows laptop and Android phone with the downloadable app they recommend.
Can also use on
Mac OSX versions 10.4.2 and above have built-in support for USB Video Class devices.

Companion software is available on our website for OSX that allows finer control of the device, or you can use any video capture software, including Photo Booth.

that is exactly what i want to do also. Each pot have its own shut off valve. I got some third party tubing at my local hydro store, and figured I would clean all my stuff and give it a test run before my babies get transplanted. Im so pissed. It took me an act of god to get their damn tubing on, then once I got it on i couldnt get it off and broke (2) "t" connectors. it is SO FREAKING TIGHT. just doesnt feel like the stuff that CAME with the autopots. its a hair smaller and rather rigid. I think I will just stick with my aquarium tubing. The last thing I need is tubing that is going to give me a hard time during a grow~
If you purchase anything 3rd party for the autopots just make sure you test it before its in your tent

Actually what I did this evening was a test run of the autopot and the aquavalves with no plants. I tested all (4). I watched how the water went into the tray and how the valve reacted. then I dumped out some water and watched how the valves worked to fill up the base again. I cleaned and took apart the valves then put them back together again. I figure if I ever have an issue it is best to know what I am working with...and how IT works. Especially the little yellow stoppers. All (4) aquavalves worked fine, but I did notice that 2 of them allowed more water into the base than the other 2. (the water ALMOST covered the little black twist on thingie.)
ha ha

Great idea Mom. I should do the same thing. Good idea to understand how they work. Doing what you did is smart.

Noticed you said some had higher water levels. I asked autopot if you can reduce how much water goes in a tray by adjusting the valve. You can't reduce but you can increase.
The only way to adjust the flood level is to increase it and that is by adding some weight (or coins) to the inside of the floats.

you can raise the pots out of the tray though so the roots basically sit in less standing water. To do that, you can put something like a cocomat (sold by autopots) in the tray. They are an inch thick and you can cut to fit the part of the tray the pots sit in. Autopots USA does have the cocomats in the US. I'm trying to find some in Canada right now because I would like to try raising the pots.

Thanks guys :)

I can't figure out where in this thread cameras or scopes came in to play. Was it to look at trichomes for harvesting?

I have been trying a lot of different options to look at trichomes.

The best so far is to use a scientific micro scope. its stable and great optics. Just cut a piece of bud off and look at it.

I have tried several clip on lens for phones and they suck. I have tried a clip on scope for a phone too and they suck. They can shake and the the magnification its hard to see the trichomes well. Have not tried USB scope and maybe they are good.

I have tried various glass optics like jeweler loupes and they are nice because the optics is good. But such a narrow field of view.

My next adventure is going to be with eye glasses like jewelers or dentists use. Quite affordable on amazon. And with the two eye pieces I hope the field of view will be wide angle so you can see more trichomes at high magnification. I have a pair of these coming from Amazon today. I hope they work really well. But they won't work for taking pictures, but I don't care about that.

I was planning on getting the phone clip on. Won't it be stable if you cut off some bud and put it on a table? Isn't 25x too low?

I have them all, 200 power microscope, Carson usb microscope, clip on microscope and lenses for my phone, macro lenses for my camera and a hand held lupe. They all have the same inherent problem - getting the trichomes to hold still :dizzy:so you can focus. Really the lupe works the best but I cannot reach most of my plants when harvest is near so I just turn the video capture on and wave my phone or camera over the buds real close then use software to pull out any good frames.

Great hack! :) :slap: I will follow this technique and get a jeweler's lupe as well.

Nice trichome picture. That is what I want to see. I'll order one of those. What is nice about that USB scope is you can view it on a big monitor or laptop.

How did you get that white background? I was playing with back lighting with the big geology microscope I have and found that a light or white background is better for trichomes viewing.

I did remove this from the plant. I placed it on a white background. The scoped did the rest. I have a mac. I use "Photo Booth" to see the screen and take a screen shot. No other software/App required. PC or Android ??????? Hope it is what you are looking for.

I just ordered it. I didn't think to check what OS it works with. Thankfully it works with Windows. Seems great though. Snip a bit of flower off, put it on some white paper and get the scope on it with good focus and lighting etc and screen shot it on the laptop. Then you can zoom in etc. This could be exactly what I'm looking for. I was looking at buying another lab grade microscope because they are so cool but it's $400 used. Not cheap.
