Grow Room micro.s computer cases... autos and photos...

this is my first post, i just wanted to show some love because this thread has inspired me. ive wanted to grow but i could not think of a way to be able to do it in such a small space, like my dorm room haha. but now im going to make one of these cases and give it a go! thanks

i agree with tbm on this one... i own my own house... if it weren't for this, i probably wouldnt have this hobby... def tell no one... this is the number one rule... word on campus spreads fast from what i have heard... wouldnt know myself.. i never made it passed the 11th grade... but, besides all that... ;) i am grateful you posted.. i was just thinking to myself how no one post on my page anymore.. lol... i KNOW alot of people look and lurk... lol.. i guess i explain everything good enough no one has any questions to ask... lol... :) oh well... lol. i wish you the best of luck... building a case isnt hard... you basically gut a case, envision in your head the best possible layout (ex. most room used/less room un used, max wattage with suffecient airflow), figure out how you are gonna wire all this, get your supplies (fans, lights, reflective materieal, wires to wire everything, and personally, i reccomend getting some aluminum tape, or chrome duct tape. both work about the same.. easily moldable to cracks for light leaks, and you dont lose to much reflection using this over lets say... mylar). thats pretty much it... and containers... those are easy. lol... :) everytime i go to the grocery store, i look in the plastic bowls/tupperware section for new container... i always buy two that fit into each other pretty good(majority of the time the come in four packs for like 2-3 bucks). i then poke holes in one of the containers... the other container is left un poked, but outside of it is spray painted black... several coats for sure... even using plastic purposed spray paint. i do this so i can moniter root growth and soil moisture. simply lift the hole poked container out of the black container and voila!!! this is also a easy way to drain your container when watering... i learned this cool trick when i started in party cups... also... in computer case square and rectangular containers are most effeceint.. bowls tend to suck considering the amount of space you are wasting to what could be a potential root zone... ;) hope all this helps... but once again. i would suggest waiting... just my 2cents ...

thanks for the info guys! and yeah im not going to try and grow in my dorm room. next semester i will move out and probably live with my little brother who would also like to grow. i like the computer case idea a lot, and i also saw a filing cabinet that was 4 drawers tall that could gutted out and turned into a really nice cabinet as well. im tuned into your thread tho micro for sure. and also im studying a lot! i dont plan on growing for a little while still, im on here soaking up a ton of info first

thats what its all about.. but just remember, there is always 1000 and 1 things left to learn... in this hobby, know one knows absolutely everything... there are new methods and techniques being developed everyday... micro growing is even harder in this sense due to the fact that not only are you learning and using basic techniques to improve yeild, you are also essentially growing bonsai style... which also has its challenges... i know if i were ballsy enough to grow in a full size closet, this wouldnt be half the challenge it is, and therefore i would possibly become bored with this... i highly doubt it.. lol.. but until my state opens its minds a lil more, i am bound to my three cases... which is perfect, and i would suggest the same for you.. gut three cases for three diffrent purposes... 1 being for clones... this can be a tiny pc case... i run a 13 watt cfl in my clone case... i would suggest a medium size case for vegging and or seed start... for this i use a 65 watt flat style cfl with a dimmer... and a larger flowering case... in my flowering case i am running 182 watts... three diffrent grow spaces with a combined wattage of 260 watts.. not even enough to notice on your electricity bill ;) i know with all fans included, i am usuing roughly 300 watts if volts convert to watts roughly... with my setups i can have four clones and a micro mother plant in my clone case, i can fit four party cups and three clones in my veg case and up to 10 party cups in my flowering case... in a total of 22 plants i f i wanted.. but hell.. honestly, thats too much work in my opinion and i truly cant baby each plant to the fullest running that many plants... hope this info helps as well... it has taken me two and a half years to build the perfect setup... i no longer go to store looking for that perfect part or addition to my box... minus the occasional glance at led panels... lol.. which honestly, if you can find a panel to fit your case, go for it... less heat issues... but i really cant offer advice on panels due to my lack of experience...
later,
micro.grower

dude thanks for all that advice, its stuff i have been wondering about. now a question i have is, about how many grams will your two plant setup in the pictures yield do you think?

Thanks Tbm. That sincerely means a lot to me. I know from reading your post you are very knowledgeable. So yeah... thanks homie.

Last grow with two plants I yeilded twenty one grams from two photo plants using 138 watts equally mixed spectrum of 2700k and 6500k from some bagseed. One was twelve and twelve from seed while the other had three weeks of veg time before switching to 12/12. This harvest, I am shooting for two ounces with 182 watts of mostly 2700k minus 26 watts of 6500k. I have a bigger container for the photo period plant and auto. I have harvested 29.1 grams off of a single female plant I grew from bagseed out of this same flowering box/case. Using reverse scrog and 182 watts of nothing but 2700k. I am now trying to replicate that harvest using all height control techniques ( Lst, super cropping, topping, and defoliating).

Anything else you would like to know, feel free to ask. I guess I.m out for the night (morning... :) ). Later homies.

defoliation on both... lst on both... querkle was topped and pandora was super cropped... when growing in confined spaces, you gotta do what you gotta do to control height..

auto clone has rooted and since been transplanted to a 18oz party cup like the querkle clone... good thing knowing i can root any shoot i accidently break off... even if it is during flowering... i have some rearranging to do in my cases tomorrow.. i may even start something dwc... who knows... life is a mystery regardless of what path you choose... thats why i am trying new shit and going with the flow... true to my pisces roots i guess...

micro.grower - you need to open a pc recycling center so you'll have a steady supply of cases! Hahaha!
For some reason after I was enjoying a vape - I pictured your 'grow room' looking more like a server room! Just case after case, side-by-side & stacked! :D

haha for some reason i picture it like that too. itd be cool to make an office in your house (like one of those offices no one is allowed to go in or touch) but every appliance is gutted and made into a grow box, every file cabinet, the cpu, desk drawers, book shelve, and card board boxes. that'd be a very productive office if you ask me haha

Funny you should say that, because I've often joked with a buddy of mine that a data center would be a good cover for a grow op. Not with PC cases, but large, locking server racks like these that would hold a few plants perfectly:

Server farms use lots of electricity and they generate lots of heat, so you already have a plausible story for the power consumption and ductwork/cooling fans. And many of them contain sensitive data so a high level of security is not out of the ordinary. Large boxes being delivered aren't suspicious, and neither are people coming and going at all hours. It would be a perfect setup if you had someone who already ran a legit datacenter & could supply some space.
