Mephisto Show Grows 2023
That was the problem, actually. I put it on like it WAS Craft Blend. :greenthumb:

I was going to watch their video first, but the how-to was buried inside a long show and I didn't want to search for it.

I'm pretty confident it's safe for large plants at the right dosage because it just severely shocked the two adults in the tent at my copious application rate.
Yeah, I have no idea what vid it was, but it was there. I bought the big bucket last year, I believe, so it doesn't have it in it.
What rate and how much did you use? It might be helpful to others with the same Craft Blend.
I sprayed BTI on my 4x4 EBs again last night. I have no visible compost mites now!:face:
Just no substitute for consistent life from your own worm bin.
I'm not buying the Oly compost ever again! Damn shame too! It was well composted, stained my hands, but it was bagged WAY too wet or BAS let it get wet. I'm gonna stick to the Coast of Maine compost and my own worm castings for the good life. This was just a massive hatch and I didn't use much Oly at all. I used the COM lobster with it.
I'm just going to start an isolation program for all my externally acquired/bought bulk material. I think the cheapest method would be put it in a tote, make sure the moisture level is near composting levels, add something to top for life to feed on, chicken laying crumble, and a little bokashi and let it cook. If there are gnat larva, they should make themselves evident fairly quickly. If nothing after two weeks, I can add worm bin life. If they are there, I can treat and add life from the worm bin once they are eliminated.

That sounds like a great strategy. I'm sure I get fungus gnats from my inputs but around here it's almost impossible not to get reinfected by gnats just flying in and laying eggs. I don't mind a couple of them flying around.

I'll have to try BTI-it looks pretty good.

Day 14

She continues to thrive and expand, PPFD is on a slow incline and currently sets at 200. Temperature remains around 77°F, and 50% RH. Today she'll receive her weekly Veg Microbes, and sometime next week she'll receive her first top dress to insure she has the resources she needs for the upcoming transition.

These 2 look like survivors. I'm going to call them a week old. Actually #1 soaked a week earlier, but she had a slow start.

My survival rate has been pretty dismal lately: this run 2 out of 5, last run 1 out of 4. I think I've learned to deal with the fungus gnats now. Hopefully they'll catch up to a normal growth curve. @N/A-Greengo is off to a perfect start!

I've had a bought of Gnats that lingered from a batch of off brand Worm Castings I purchased a while back. I used Environmental Factor Pot Poppers, and Quick Kill Mosquito Bits. They would not completely die off, so I crushed a few Mosquito Dunks and top dressed with them in conjuction with sticky traps and Pot Poppers and viola! In the past when nothing else would work, I religiously used General Hydro Exile. But it almost completely makes your soil sterile as I'm certain it kills all Fungi as well. (Including Botrytis)

:goodluck: hope your babies are well and strong!

I planted 2, and the other was a no show thus far. I'll more than likely pull the pot this week and let the solo survivor have plenty of room to spread her wings and show us what she's made of....

Compost mite population will explode with excessive nematode application.. Made that mistake once and was scraping them off the inside of my stored soil totes with a spatula.. I think i used potato halves to help knock them back, but eventually they ran out of dead nematodes, leveled out and are pretty much gone or at least back to normal levels where they wont decapitate seedlings before they sprout. :smokeit::smokeit:

I've never had that problem while composting no till soil. But I use DTE as well, which I forgot mention above.
