New Grower Mephisto Strawberry Nuggets, 4 Assed Monkey & Fantasmo Express x Sour Stomper

This is all new to me. I know that in some south west england agricultural communities the old boys sometimes refer to the penis of a particularly hung and good specimen for a stalion that’s used for breeding as a “dude”.

Not sure how common it is, but in South Gloucester England I’ve heard a few people mention it in passing including my grandad who first told me about it when i accidentally called him dude and he got all pissy.

Pretty funny really i believe his words were “don’t call me a horses dick you little git” or something :crying:

Day 36

Feeling pretty deflated about this grow.

For a a whole host of reasons I've been struggling with these a bit. I've been super busy at work (this is our busiest time of year) and my fibro is kicking up really badly, partly due to stress, partly due to the cold I think.
In addition to that, I just really wasn't prepared for the growth structure. Maybe I'd have handled things differently if I'd fully understood that in the beginning, but maybe not! I dunno, i guess I'm here to learn and I'm certainly doing that.

The plants have grown quite a bit I suppose. I was surprised to see it had only been a week since the last pics I posted as there's more growth than I'd realised.

The earlier issues were definitely N overdose. I've dialled back the feed and whilst they're looking better, the damage has been done and I'm sure that's stunted things a bit. I addition to that, I layed off the training until they recovered but now the 4AM is totally lopsided and I think it's a bit too late to really do anything about it as it's heading into flower already.

Unfortunately (in a way) my first autos grew very vigorously and pretty tall, so i had unrealistic expectations of these and would have trained them differently had I truly understood that.

Anyway, here we go.
Lopsided, dark leaved clawed 4AM :(

As you can see, there is also some nute burn on all of them. I guess I've always just grown super hungry plants before but these ladies all want way less food than I'm accustomed to giving. Live and learn I suppose.

The continue the topping debate. The topped SN looks a bit healthier, although it always did and is definitely much easier to handle and tuck, much more even at this stage and i think should produce a pretty even canopy with little to no extra work, though it's considerably shorter than the other one, I'm not sure this will effect final yield.

So yeah, I'm feeling pretty bummed about em. I also feel like I'm wasting tent space so I popped a Fantasmo Express x Sour Stomper yesterday.

I'm sure once flower kicks off I'll feel a bit more chipper about em...

Don’t be too bummed about this grow, they don’t look “bad”. A little nutrient burn happens occasionally, especially when pushing the limits for maximum growth and yield. It’s not a big deal and doesn’t seem to have hurt them overall. The growth is lush and seriously thick. Surprised they haven’t really stretched at all. You can raise the light up high and make them reach for it to get some stretch. You can thin the thickest fan leaves to try to open some air and light space. You can thin to fewer tops. They are just starting their flowering so you still have many good options. Overall they look healthy and still have great potential for an awesome harvest. Your last grow was fantastic and no reason these can’t be also. The fun is in the experimenting and learning, the harvest is the icing on the cake. Good luck, I’m sure they will be fine!

I think Mephisto makes smaller plants. At least that’s what I think I’ve been seeing. I think your plants look good! I bet you get some awesome bud out of these.

I can’t wait to try the strawberry nuggets myself. It’s slated for one of my next grows.

Every grow provides opportunities for learning. Even seasoned growers learn a new thing or two every once in a while. And some strains are more finicky than others. Don’t let this take the wind out of your sails!

Yeah man I feel your pain (specifically the fibro) and I know when it's playing up its easy to look at things a bit negatively but like @wes said it's all learning opportunity.
I'm not going to lie as a new grower without the safety net that soil provides against feeding error my plants would be worse off than yours a while back when I had pH AND nuts burn. If it wasn't for the good quality soil mix I was using with that buffer action going on things would have stunted for sure.

I can say that a lot of stealth autos (mephisto seems to make a few) are a lot shorter than we'll thing they'll be and also bear in mind that on some strains almost all the height is gained when flowering truly kicks off.
Tbh topped SN looks far nicer than untopped, those couple inches missing dont seem to mean much from what I've seen! I couldn't tell the difference at first besides more lushious growth on topped

Don't be so hard on yourself or so negative around your plants - they will pick up on it. Look at all you have learned. I have seen way worse plants finish with a surprise yield. The stretch is about to begin.

As to the tip burn, you will almost always see a bit of tip burn in my grows. I up the nutrients until i get a bit of burn then back off 10%. That way you get your nutrients dialed in for that plant.

Your plants will surprise you!

:bighug:

i'm sorry the fibro' is acting up - my missus has been particularly rough too for the past 4-6 weeks, she's thinking it's the cold weather coming in...it's a killer mate i know. she's fortunate enough to be able to stay at home 24/7 - she would never be able to manage even a part-time job in her condition but in the backwards UK she gets prescriptions of yoga and healthy eating to ward off an incredibly debilitating illness
but i digress

i'm not gonna rant on for ages - i'll keep it short and sweet...once these things pop off and you have Mephisto buds in your tent, you will be chuffed. both these strains are known for thick, greasy, frosty and stinking buds and looking at your girls, they are gonna produce them without a doubt.

these are magic beans mate, they will perform! the flowers are gonna blow your mind!

but if there's space then yes get that FantasmoxStomper popped!!

Big thanks to @wes @davisgirl @Medimadness @Vapo69 @Mañ'O'Green @Dudeski @Froot n Fuel :slap: to you all for your words of encouragement.

It might sound silly, but you all really helped me out. With Fibro kicking up and everything else going on, it's been hard to see the positives. I'd forgotten why I even started doing this in the first place. It's meant to be fun right!? And even if something doesn't work out according to plan, it's a plant. Another can be grown, it's all OK! And yeah, they're far from dead, they're just not perfect. I guess that could applied to anything though hey!?

So after all your good vibes, I'm feeling somewhat more optimistic about this. The plants even look healthier to me today although I'm 100% sure that's just my view shifting a little.

I have nothing planned this weekend other than a little work to do and a kinda emergency acupuncture session tomorrow morning, so I will be able to spend a little more time with my plants, even if I will be basically crawling around, it'll be amongst some nice little cannabis plants. I can think of worse places to be.

Regarding the fibro @Froot n Fuel I know i've already discussed acupuncture with @Medimadness but I recommend your missus looks into acupuncture too. It's been a lifesaver for me, or at least a job-saver. I'll be reducing my hours in the new year but I'm still able to work pretty much full time. I'm lucky that I have a pretty understanding work place as well. Yoga is really important but there is something about acupuncture that really gets to your core. I'm a huge fan of it and recommend it to anyone that's got to deal with fibro.
I actually find it works in a similar way to cannabis, but with a more lasting effect. I hope I'm not coming across preachy, just my two.

Good vibes right back at you. IT'S FRIDAY!
