New Grower Mephisto Strawberry Nuggets, 4 Assed Monkey & Fantasmo Express x Sour Stomper

@Vapo69 FYI being called "dude" is not complimentary in California.

This thread is most helpful to learn about identifying cannabis problems:

Give it a good read and refer back to it often I do.
@Mañ'O'Green my sincerest apologies, had I been aware that you were in California, or that "dude!" was not a friendly term......I would not have used it.....can I just ask, is this the whole state of California that finds "dude!" offensive, or just the bit around you? ......just for my info, to stop any future "dude!" offences!

I wrote that in a hurry, so sorry @Vapo69 @Mañ'O'Green that's my fault for not clarifying what I meant by "plain water". I just meant without the nutes. The water was PHd, with Cal-Mag and Great White. I admit that this is clearly not plain water and that could obviously cause confusion for others. When growing in coco, that still feels like "plain water"!

I feed/water when they feel like they need it basically. Generally every morning before heading off to work but there are some days they need to be left a little longer. I judge that by the weight of the pots and whether they feel damp or not. They're never left to go completely dry though really. The coco/perlite mix provides a lot of drainage and I'd be surprised if I was overwatering them, it would be the first time I'd done that but these plants are smaller than I'm accustomed to so who knows, it's entirely possible.

I'll upload some pics when I can. Still no sign of the 5000k I ordered though.

I don't have a PH probe and I'd love to get one but with various other expenses this month and Christmas around the corner, I can't see myself making many additions during this grow. I'm debating packing it all up after these have done their thing and waiting until I can afford some cobs before starting any more plants. The cost of running the HPS is eye-watering and unless I'm pulling fairly big yields, which I'm not expecting from these plants, I'm not sure it's worth it :(

Thanks for recommending that guide @Mañ'O'Green very useful.
OK du...I mean, ok person.......sounds like you use the same way to judge if they need water as me:bow:

"Dude" is typically used as a slang term describing a man, woman, or a group. I call everyone dude, dude! :hump:

@NiceOption i had serious doubts about my plants for ages. once they kick in to bloom you’ll be a happy chappy. even my shitty Grape that I stunted and shoved in to the corner of the cupboard from day twenty something is still gonna give me an ounce of top-shelf buds even though the plant is a joke.
you won’t get 9 wizards off these Mephs, but you’ll get buds that’ll make you proper chuffed

Funny this has come up!

There is in fact a lesser used definition which dates way back referring more specifically to city folk who move out to the West Coast. I suppose this could be considered offensive if it was intended to be and would be akin to the term 'townie' in the UK. As far as I'm aware, this usage has all but disappeared these days and it's very localised from my understanding.

Somewhat like the term 'hipster', which has over time grown to have a more negative connotation from it's first use in the late 50s. 'Dude' has actually shed it's negative connotations and become more of a term of admiration or as the Oxford Dictionary would tell us "a stylish and confident person".

At one point there was an even more specific use which was used almost exclusively in the SF area which was almost used as a code for people who were 'switched on' or liked to get high. You can find examples of this most frequently in the personals or small company ad listings in 60's and early 70's queer and 'hippie' zines that came out of that area (of which there are plenty).

There are a couple of excellent and wonderfully weird books from around the time which act as a sort of cipher for a lot of these phrases and coded words.

I realise no one asked for all this info and very few people care, but the counterculture from this era is what I specialise in for my actual, real job. Although I'm better versed in the photography of the era than the linguistics, it's endlessly fascinating stuff.

My personal opinion on all of this is that if no harm was intended, no offence should really be taken and it was pretty clear that none was intended. Sometimes these nuances can be difficult to convey on an internet forum though!

Anyway, one of the biggest stoner icons of our age is simply called The Dude.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!
After a little tucking and flushing (of sorts) they're actually looking a bit perkier this afternoon.

@Vapo69 No apology needed but thank you. I cannot vouch for all of California it is a big state, but around these parts it is not complimentary.

I think nice option hit the nail on the head. Out here Dudes were always found on a Dude Ranch!

Dude Ranch is the perfect example of this use of the term yes!
