It’s a trade off :/

Bigger the volume of water, the more stable everything is, PH, temp, all that. Gives you a much larger window to correct issues

The opposite would be extra large areas of water... may need to me heated or cooled... which can cost $$$$ big bucks. They also require MORE nutrients to achieve the same level of concentration.. which cost more $$$ too

See what I mean lol

I say 5-8 gal is the sweet spot. I’d lean more towards 8gal

Understand your thought but I can say it works the exact opposite in my grows. Larger volumes of water take longer to reach whatever temp your trying to stay away from. Once your heater or chiller is in action it would be very close to the same energy to get it there. Trust me it will cost less to cool 8 gallons every 3 hours than 2 gallons every hour.

And the nutrients are way less. You are not chasing PH adding salts. You will find your concentrations will go down because the amount is still their and they can absorb them just as quickly. I think you should look at DWC with MC like you would an organic grow. These aren’t chemical nutrients that we need to injest at the exact PPM to be useable. Lots of guys running 500ppm the whole grow with bennies.
Not trying to convert anyone just sharing.
I’ll be updating my post in New growers tonight, you should check out my grow.

That sounds great, slightly worried about the "forced to upgrade" part.

This is starting to make me think!

Wan't even planning to grow anything tiny. Maybe I should look for a quick autoflower..

I am just gonna go ahead and trial with my 5 gallon bucket.. see where I get.

You will be fine with 5 gallons. Lots of massive grows. Wasn’t trying to sidetrack or confuse anyone. I run a bubble bucket without changing water out so was just saying why it might be possible for me to go against the grain.

Go slow with your nutrients and watch your PH and let the plant talk to you. DWC with MC is fantastic way to grow a plant

Thanks for the reassurance, have high hopes for my first DWC try

Figured as much but asked because they didn't update the first post. Gonna try the MC line looks like it is forgiving on dosage, works well and cheap. What more can u ask for?
Nothing really it’s almost too easy. I’ve been mixing a base of 3.5 g Mc 1.5g sweet candy and .2 g kelp. Then I fill gallon jugs for hand watering for veg they get that mix for flower I add some bud explosion. And all through out I add 1ml calmag it’s a weaker organic calmag. No issues large ladies lots of budsites smiles all around
