THINK NUTTY PROFESSOR!
A very important factor on your grow. All the calculators and charts seem to be directed at photos. 10 weeks in veg?
So since the girls are in the 4th week, I'm just gonna shoot for slightly under 1.00 kPa. I think their root development is to a point they will support the uptake increase without problems. I'm taking my readings from my remote sensor at canopy level. I'm not working with highly accurate professional tools, so it's still just kinda of just a general guide for me....yeah no Pulse or something like it.
Maybe I'll take that step to get more professional equipment to monitor and control my grow environment, if I build a dedicated grow room in my shop. While my current grow room is good and a little better/flexible than some have to use, it's far from perfect.
I've got my CO2 set up and ready to go. The lights are at 25in above the canopy. With the lowering of the lights and increased VPD, I'll give the girls a couple of days to see how they react. I think Saturday will be a good time to start adding it. They will be 30 days old and that should be a good starting point that I can adjust in later grows if I choose to continue usage in this grow room. If I build a room in my shop, it should be a more viable option, especially during a winter grow where I can use a propane heater to pull double duty as a heat and CO2 source.
All the girls have shown sex for a few days with the last one being Sour Stomper. I think the girls like the new arrangement. Kong and Stomper look more happy.
With every day passing, it gets more plainly evident of the advantage of using EarthBoxes to grow canna. The size difference is clearly evident, even taking in consideration the possibility of strain growth difference. Close monitoring of the rez water will remain one of the important checks I'll do throughout the grow.
I do have one concern that is bothering me to a degree. I'm not seeing the fungal mat I've seen on other EB grows. Maybe I didn't add enough bokoshi when started. I did get some starting a few days after application. I am leaning to the compost mites are eating the mat or what was left in it's early beginning. I really don't want to kill them. Maybe I can interrupt their life cycle to a degree if I lightly mix in what I have on the surface and re-apply the bokashi at a higher rate. I should probably take the opportunity to add some amendments for future demands from the plant. I'll be careful to make sure I'm not disturbing any roots that may have found their way to the top, but I doubt if they are to that point yet.
Here's the girls on day 24
