Mephisto Genetics Mark SIP grow Toofless alien and gold glue

I may not have had any gnats in my earthboxes cuz I did water with nematodes before I planted anything in them! Hopefully that’s why they have stayed gnat free! The 2 bags seem to be free of em now too cuz haven’t seen a single 1 in several days but nematodes are cheap so still gonna add extra!

Ok time for update! Def moving now so just a hurry up and wait time! Topped off with a build a flower last Friday so should be good thru flower now!

Coming along nicely but am curious if I am correct here but @MrOldBoy do I wanna keep reservoir full?? Obv not fill it before it empties but like yesterday since watered at 4 and by 12 using dipstick already was empty back in both juniors so topped off again before lights out! If it uses it that fast do I need to keep topping it off once it goes empty? Maybe a lil dry period but don’t want them getting thirsty on me! Thanks :smoking:

Keep them full now. Low rez only for first few weeks. Then full. Peace, slow

Per slow keep them full - I generally kept full entire grow and yes they can use a tremendous amount of water!
@Organic Sinse and I both feel that the low Rez for first few weeks is optimal for Root development. I have personally seen faster veg growth as a result on multiple strains. Plants dont need or want the same moisture level at day 5 than it does at day 25. Low Rez level will provide us who DIRECTLY plant into final pot that lower moisture level that is more optimal for early growth. If you transplant a seedling from a Rootmaker, I would not bother doing low rez with a Transplanted seedling. Directly planted seeds wont look overwatered, but below the surface roots will grow much faster with lower Rez vs full for directly planted seeds. If you transplant, just wait for the Rez to go down a tad before watering for the first week. Meaning, let the full Rez get used up decently before topping off vs keeping totally full. Do this for the first week after transplanting for faster root growth, then keep full daily. Peace, slow

Per EarthBox when you fill your box the first 2/3 fill should be dry ..... then the last 2” should be moist as well as the top mound should be moist ..... Then transplant and Top Water, at transplant time only, then, fill reservoir ..... This is per EB https://earthbox.com/media/wysiwyg/PDFs/JR_EBX_Instructions.pdf

I always moistened soil when building and then let box sit for a week or so with reservoir full and then transplant but NO Top Water, only spray mist the very top to darken but no top water and my transplant pot was not wet nor are they dry and that seemed to work ....

The Direct Seed is another animal - the low or no water at first in the reservoir would be logical as you don’t want them to them dampen off that’s for sure!

Hey buddy not sure if you have ever paid attention and seen some or if the 2 bags I checked had issues but u ever find springtails in your oly compost bags? I saw some so pulled the majority of compost back off box and put in a bucket and went to exchange it but owner wasn’t there so wasn’t sure if it was normal! Now I hear they are beneficial as long as not an over abundance of them! Soil is moist just cuz I used 1 gal of water with that Dr Zymes stuff sample pack so I could kill any that maybe had been multiplying since 1st oly top off since plant had died anyways! Just wanna make sure it is something that’s normal and no big deal before I go get another bag from him that maybe has some in it! :thanks:

Not sure why mine had some but when I asked he said he’s had the bags like 2mo so may be why! May be small amount in there and can multiply if bag sits? My guess but not sure! Glad I returned bag but will need more since he owes me a bag now so not sure what to do! Should they be ok if not crazy amount??
