Mephisto Genetics Mark SIP grow Toofless alien and gold glue

I was worried about wind burn I guess after last plants really wound up with many a crusty leaf from the wind! Even on oscillate and low still burnt em but if that’s to be expected and a cost of doing business then I’m all good!

Got dem fans dropped and blowing across the plants proper now! I’ll have those 2 more soon and I’ll get some Honeywell I can swivel straight up I’ll put on floor on each side between the plants! Only like $12 each and Walmart has em in stock! Then also fan on each tent pole! That’s big tent and small I’ll have duct fan, the monkey fan and 2 reg 6” clip fans that don’t oscillate I’ll put on the cfm crossbars first gorilla tent I ordered! May also work to help tie that plant over or I’ll make a net so rocbudinc in full size doesn’t get too tall too fast and I’ll try to make wide as possible! Gonna get pvc next time at Home Depot! Also I may be trippin but I think it’s safe to say monitoring rh and temps and keeping a more stable environment during veg I see now where before I was stunting them during crucial times not having rh up and was more like 35-40% and temps would swing quite drastically. Having fan blowing air thru sock vent on roof on my high side for inkbird humidity controller has fresh cool air come in each time hits 68% think high side is set at so keeps temps in check and controller holds rh! Making them thrive compared to bedroom closet with previous grows!

Earthboxes are wicking, but we are talking about seedlings with developing root systems. Bottom soak too much and it is just as bad as top watering at this stage. If u go LIGHTLY it will work great. But picking up and spraying is almost impossible to overwater. Knowing Mark has a tendency to overwater, I suggest using spray bottle. Once comfortable with correct feel for watering amounts, then bottom dunking would be easier to control. And 20 min to soak up the water is 10 min too long IMO at the seedling stage. Plus the water level needs to be low. I bottom dunk my Coco 100% of the time at this stage. But they soak up water intsntly. Letting them sit can allow for over soaking in Soil much easier thsn Coco. But its still better than top watering by hand, it is the easiest to over water if watering from top by hand on fresh seedlings. We want the roots to grow outward and downwards. So that is why bottom dunking is better than top watering seedlings. Peace, slow
What if-- you had 2 trays, the top one elevated say 3/4". stick a piece of 1/4" cotton rope("cord" to be technical") through bottom of root maker and the top tray so it rests on the bottom tray. Add 3/8-1/2" water to bottom tray. Now you are wick watering like earth box

This is the wire I used. I wouldn't use anything smaller. This has been running fine with no heat nor apparent voltage drop. Amazon product

Sure you can rig up a wick. I only suggest keeping seedlings in Rootmakers a Max of 14 days. They dont need much water during the whole first 7-10 days. But it is def easier to over water when top feeding by hand vs wicking, spraying, bottom dunking, ect. Reslistically bottom dunking is the easiest and safest method. You can regulate how how much water you want to be soaked up by how long you dunk the bottom.. our hands are excellent scales, they can sense small changes in pot weight and is the most consistent way to do Seedlings if you choose to use Cups or Rootmakers. Good luck, slow

With the gnat issue I just went through, I'm not looking for holey planters. I just opted for getting a tail and direct planted to sip. See how that works. Hell, Mother Nature never used rooting pots/media

Ok for this update gotta hit up my earthbox amigos @MrOldBoy & @slowandeasy Damn boys 2 days ago got pics of the 2 mephisto just before I topped em off with the good stuff! Both got some dolomite lime, rock dust, kelp meal, grokashi and mix of like 70/30ish EWC & Oly mountain compost! Damn what a diff the 2 days has made!:woohoo1:
Gold glue @day 29 up 1st
View attachment 1181836View attachment 1181837 Craziness only 2 days later! :headbang:
Goldy on Day 31 here!

As you can see other than like 2 pairs a ways back tried just tucking all I could on her but she is staying so short and stout that all the secondary satellite growth is now officially being blocked by couple fans again and nowhere to tuck em! :smokeit:
Toofless Alien @Day 30 up 1st

And here she is today @Day 31
View attachment 1181844View attachment 1181845 Definitely can easily see the growth daily in these things now! I raised the light to 21” after I topped em off and noticed today was only 14.5” over toofless so jacked it up! Not sure how I’ll work this since separate heat sinks only take me so far! Guess it’ll be supercrop time or I’ll bust out my spools of wire and go ahead and run the drivers outside the tent! That’ll make em more maneuverable over the 2! Also grabbed group shot of em

My other question I had for y’all is without a crazy tentstake collection like señor MoB how the hell do I train these in here?? I have a roll of some Velcro I could run around outside and get some of those Velcro plant ties but not sure if it’ll work??
Any clues fellas I’d appreciate it!!!
:pass:
I'm hanging soft ties with weights--Large nuts. Get some strength in them stems. Maybe start running Jack LaLane repeats

Man if you’d believe it I ordered 2 monkey fans to add and the damn things showed up Monday and 1 sounds like the bearing gonna melt with oscillation on and number 2 didn’t turn on at all! :crying: They are shipping 2 more to me now and gonna add 1 to the remaining 2 tent poles! I’ll move the vivosun over to that side to give some extra wind on them til it arrives! I spent the extra and got a ax infinity duct fan instead of fan on the roof blowing fresh air in and this new 1 on low makes my tent walls expand like a holiday yard ornament! And sold out now so can’t get a 2nd so 1 pulls fresh in and other cycles hot air from top out so gotta improvise some how!
Wish I had a par meter so I could see what qb cranks out and if all else fails I have the autocob I can use if I get big enough bush in full size in 2x4 but still got some time there!

Also MoB I did wind up catching a few lil gnats in my stickies so hopefully putting em down with the DE for now will do trick and if I need more advanced measures I’ll attack as needed!
View attachment 1182329View attachment 1182327View attachment 1182328 Definitely hoping I don’t see some pop outta soil down the line but gonna bottom water til I feel they are gone! May get couple more boxes of nematodes to add in just to help fight the good fight too! Helped last time deliver knockout blow and didn’t see any more afterwards!
I just added ac axial to my roof fan with temp controller. Roof fan was sucking out all the ac.

Hey fellow earthboxers, hows this for keeping dem bugs out?? I’ll get some steel wool or sand or leave the duster put up and use a teaspoon to sprinkle some diatomaceous earth around stem and the I can use my ghetto method to seal it back up! Oh and last night I was tripping around tent why I didn’t try to drop fan any lower but I’ll drop it now! Let me know if this is good tho for sealing it up! Cut a square off 1 of the many full size cover since got extras!

Also seem as I have no candy canes (where can I get some) but how’s this for now?? Gonna do 1 out the back and maybe on the sides too!!
View attachment 1182880View attachment 1182879 Pretty much only option I could come up with but seems to be holding top over! If it’ll hold it long enough for lower stuff to catch up I’ll be a happy camper! :woohoo1:
I was thinking of making a "donut" from some soft foam- maybe just slicing some root riots since I have em. Peeling back a bunch of duct tape when I want to top dress- or just for a peak under the bonnet- just isn't appealing. I would think that with some nematodes in the soil and reasonably closed off cover you should be good. You can just as easily get bad bugs riding along in that bag of soil you just bought or are reusing.

I have successfully grown five in earthboxes and no gnats - key it to keep tight - as for top dressing a little hassle but worth it .... Fact that you simply fill the tank with water makes for super easy watering and we all are witnessing Mark’s success!
