That hydrodude again
I though of sharing this little photo series of how I perform a techique called mainlining for photoperiods. You shouldn't do this for plants that are in any way under stress or harmed. Only perfectly healthy plants with vitality would do. Aim of the technique is to create equal division of power delivered for each main branch so that the colas would stay nice and tidy and grow equal to each other.
Dutch Passion's Compassion in DWC - week2 with 5 nodes total.
Made a cut to the main stem from the 3rd node. Also cut the two nodes below the 3rd one. I also left the fan leaves temporarily to provide better photosynthesis for now.
After 2 days of recovery there is new activity of the new mains that I keep on bending sideways keeping them down.
3rd day
4th day. I see enough development its time to make another cut to divide 2 new mains to 4 new mains. This one is before the cut:
And cut! Make sure to cut them from equal divisions from each side for equal power transmission.
Topview after the cut:
6th day. We already observe growing of the new 4 mains and it is time to tie them down in similar way.
9th day. After obseving the new 4 mains each starting to bend their heads up was a cue to make 3rd and final split to divide 4 mains to 8 new mains in same way.
15 days from the orginal cut of the main stem, this is how she looks now. Now just let her do her thing. Give a little bit of vegatiation still and switch to flowing and the plant should do the rest of the work without needing control.
I hope you found this helpful / interesting / educational.
