LST opinion

When I grow in fabric, grommets are necessary for the way I separate nodes around the bag.

Here is my current Mendel utilizing the grommets, once I think they are ready to boof out and up, the canopy widening and stretching begins so that the main colas push out to the outer edges, and the smaller stuff that was on the outer edges moves towards center, to get my tops as even as possible and the best light penetration. She's still a young lady at day 40, so she is only beginning her transformation. My grows always go at least 90 days. Lots more defoliation as she goes and I can clearly see what is what. So...no bending on her. Just a top early, then wait to see how she began to exhibit her stretch. Then widen her up with the grommets as she goes more vertical.

I DIY mine as mentioned. The grommet kit is like $12 and will do a LOT of bags for cheap. Plus I can put as many grommets as I like. Stole the idea, as mentioned, from Rain Science bags. Expensive enough hobby as it, at least for me. YMMV.

Ignore the Co2 bag. Dunno if it does a damn thing. I'm just superstitious at this point, and have to have one forever now.

Keep doing what you do and the plants will show you the way.

I do my own too got a 1000 grommets off Amazon. I'm the 1 who gave Rain Science the idea lol. I did a test for them when they came on AFN. I ask if I could modify the bag for test they said sure. I then suggested they offer this service for their bags. They did think it was a good idea, or people would want to pay for it. Once people saw my bag with grommets they flipped over it. Shortly after Rain Science changed their minds. and sent me 2 more 3gals with grommets lol. I hope they make a bunch of money from it, but I hope it helps growers out even more! I have a hard time believing nobody did it before me, but never seen anywhere else. It's cool going online outside of AFN and seeing Rain Science bags with grommets.

Personally, I also defoliate the big fans at the time I LST….that way the lowers are exposed to the light. Also, I don’t release the LST….and I do several rounds of defol. :pass:
Is it a bad idea to defoliate pre flower.. if so should I wait or too late? I got a forbidden Runtz that’s a jungle that I’d been taking a hand full of leaves each day and read her to make sure I’m not stressing the young lady out! Woke up two mornings ago and she started flowering on me lol.

Nice! Never knew the back story on the grommet bags. I've seen a couple other companies doing them now too. AC Infinity had them for a bit, I ordered some for the hell of it. Too few grommets, and too big of holes.

Dunno who came up with the idea, but if you're the inventor. THANKS. You should be getting a cut of that sweet $$$$.

Speaking of, I'm a printer (shirts, hoodies, etc) been thinking about testing on fabric pots. Totally unnecessary. But may be fun.

I defoliate as I go personally. I don't go too crazy as I like to see what is what. Once flower comes, I start stripping the lower leaves and such as I go.

Genius might be a bit of an overstatement, but thanks all the same! I like the crates as I sometimes need to move them a fair distance. I'm an outdoor guy! The five gallon bags fit perfectly and I can use wire to tie down branches as needed.

Nah, it's a great idea! I just haven't seen a milk crate in person in ages. At least around here.

Your welcome! I hope it make training easier. I got a 5gal, 2-3gal bags, and credit from them I'm OK with that. If they want to send me a check I'd cash it tho lol. Printed bags would be cool, I'm sure it could be figured out.

No, it’s a good idea to defol in veg as well as flower. Defoling during veg will encourage lower branches to reach for the light and become a good top…..this will make a fairly even canopy, instead of a Christmas tree where the one top is close to the light and the rest are way down there…..something like these two….
This is a muchacha in flower, I’m still defoliating her to expose as many buds as possible to the light….

and this is an Afghan x Northern Lights in veg….I’m defoliating to expose lower branches to the light so they’ll reach up….

I prefer to take a smaller amount of leaves twice a week, versus taking a huge amount all at once. Hope it helps, feel free to ask more questions :pass:
