Thanks Sqiudherb, I appreciate the info.
I decided to go with the 6gal pots to allow the tap root and feeder roots a vast area to grow. Bummer I only have two 6gal, 5gal. will work fine also for the other two girls.

Can one recycle runoff water and run through more than once as long as ph of water is still lower than the soils target ph?

Does anyone have suggestions for a reliable yet economical ph meter, preferably soil, as catching the runoff looks to be quite a pain?
Maybe ph-ing runoff is the best way to do this....if so I will equip myself to go that route

Hello again. I wouldn't re use any runoff, but someone else may say different. This is the ph soil meter that Muddy uses. I am getting one as soon as I can. http://www.horticulturesource.com/control-wizard-control-wizard-accurate-ph-8-p3015/

I would still advise getting one to check your feed water when you start adding nutes, because the color will change making it hard to use those liquid drops and basically impossible sometimes. Hanna makes some really good digital pen type ones. You get what you pay for basically, and the good ones are kinda pricey. Hope this helped.

Looking good animal. Cool names.

looking good bro...im tuned in for the grow:bong:

Thanks GDZ :smokebuds:
I'm working my soil (FD's recipe) to get it to 6.5ph b4 transplanting. Doubled my lites this morning working out exhaust fan mount and venting this afternooon
:peace: to all

OK, I'm officially freaking out:help: I've been trying to get my soil (FD's) recipe to ph at 6.5. It is currently 7-7.2 I tried using Sqiudherb's advice to lower the ph to no avail. My guess is I'm not doing something right. Squid suggested runing 6.2 water through to lower soil ph.

I used white distilled vinegar in distilled water to attemt to bring the ph down to 6-6.2 which it will do....but it seems to climb back up to original ph again, maybe this is not a problem? Can this be run through before it climbs up?
I am using a aquarium drop type test kit to test the clear water. I am using a Rapitest 1840 soil ph meter to check soil. This device seems to be quite finicky but it's all I can afford at the moment:cuss:
My girls all sholud have been transplanted by now....I'm guessing that is why they are doing this? They are all a lighter shade of green than they were yesterday also

This pic show the temp 76F and 30% humidity (second from botttom set of numbers)

I should add that my soil is unplanted at this time. I don't want to transplant with the ph that high. I plan to use two 6gal & two 5gal buckets

Any thoughts??

Hey man. They're in just Jiffy Seedling Mix now, correct? If so, they may need a little Nitrogen at almost two weeks. They aren't too light but they are a little.

Not exactly sure about the soils, ph. I have heard that those Rapidtest meters are no good though, I hope yours is working. You said you're checking runoff too and it's still high. Hopefully, Muddy will be around soon to help more. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Vinegar is okay to adjust your feeding solution but as soon as you stop using it, the pH will climb back up. I've not used FD's recipe so don't know the particulars. I assume it has dolomite lime added. How long has it been since you mixed it? Lime is slow acting and can take a week or so till the pH stabilizes. IMO the best way to lower soil pH is through the use of garden sulfur. You may have added a bit too much lime and may need to counter it with some sulfur.

As to the yellowing, yes they need some N. They have probably depleted what little is in those cups by now. Since you don't want to transplant yet, mix 1 part household ammonia to 10 parts water and spray them with it once a day for about 3 days. That will supply the needed N.

Those Rapidtest meters are very unreliable and I would be skeptical about the readings from them. A good pH meter is an absolute must have.

Also, 5 and 6 gallon pots are probably over kill for the strains you are growing. Three gallon ones would be plenty.
