Tent Grow in Riz's Loft

Hi all.

Thought i would share a grow diary with you guys. I'm wasted so forgive the rambling

There will be nothing scientific about this at all. i don't measure nutes to the ml's per litre or ph my water. I don't pot up, i don't sex (usually) and i don't use diff lights or light cycles. If i start getting problems then i'll start paying attention to ph n ml's.

I had a choice between growing in garage or loft, chose the loft through stealth reasons and glad i did but already wishing it was easier access.

After choosing the loft i discovered it was just too tight to fit the 120x120x200 budbox xl so i had to start what seeds i had with the tent in the spare room leading to heat issues.

Anyway, got myself a 120x120x180 secret jardin tent and it fits perfectly, by then the seeds i had planted were all a little heat stunted but are now in their new home up the loft.

Budbox xl - 8 outa 10 for quality, with the let down that you can see light outside the tent. material folds nicely when putting away and the poles are laminated. zips are solid theres plenty vent and cable holes.

Secret Jardin Street - 6 outa 10 for quality, light tight as ye like and nice n reflective inside but made of a weird material that feels like a textured melted plastic sheet, zips are harder to use with no trust in them so i feel like i have to be really carefull. Only a couple of holes for vents and cables, bit of a let down.

First pic up is the temps, looking nice at the moment, min is 70 and max is 85. have the lights on 18 hrs with the dark period during the day while its warmer outside.

So i had a 5 pack of free onyx from dope-seeds. 2 sweet seeds fastbud and some diesel ryders that i had from an old seed run. i had 10 new airpots so germnated straight in the airpots. 3 onyx pop, 1 fastbud and 3 diesel ryders. 1 onyx popped and died in a day and the last fastbud seed turned out to be hollow.

8 seedlings and they have just shown sex, 1 onyx 2 diesel ryders and 1 fastbud all female, chopped the males and popped 2 onyx into a jar of water for some pollen collection for later. Not sure if i will pollinate but might make some onyx/ak crosses later.


heres some pics from a week ago, at about 2 weeks.

So got a new 25 pack of auto-ak47 feminised seeds from justfeminised.com I had 6 airpots from the 10 i started with. One has been claimed by a baby eucalyptus tree so i had 5 left.

I mix up Plant magic soil with perlite, make up the airpots and fill to the brim with the mix, water them through and leave to drip through in the garden then carried them up to the loft. I have had a bag of worm castings in a tub i use to sit on up the loft so a layer of that goes on top, wetted down with a spray and a hole popped in the middle of each pot about 1/2 inch deep and the seeds dropped in pointy end up. a little more castings to cover and sprayed again to wet.

I'll go in before work, after work and before bed to spray wet the top of the pots until i see some action then i'll leave em for a couple of days so i don't rot the stem.

In normal pots i can leave them for about a week before needing to water but these airpots dry out quickly.

I'll be feeding with Plant Magic's organic old timers bloom and grow, bio-silicon, boost, catalyst and i might even give them a dose of the essence/molasses tea. Only other thing i'll throw in is some epsom salts if i start to see mag def.

weeks 0-3 just water, not ph'd and just out the tap. hardwater area with no idea what the ppm or ph levels are but i'm using a balanced quality soil so it should buffer.
week 3 - a little grow, a tiny bit of silicon and catalyst.
week 4 - a little boost and an essence tea.
week 5 - a little more grow, a tiny bit of bloom and catalyst.
week 6 - a tuny bit of grow, more bloom, a tiny bit of catalyst.
week 7 - just bloom and catalyst.
week 8 onwards just water.

And here's a pic of the dregs of the last jar i had stored, think this is some popcorn from fastbud. We're virtually out of smoke now until these new ones are ready. Fastbud for the win!

Got a delivery from greens the other day. more plant magic soil, perlite and 5 more airpots so i've planted another 5 of the feminised autoflower ak47's. in the pics below the 5 on the right were seeds planted directly in the compost mix in 6l airpots on sunday night and the 5 on the left planted on Wednesday night.

all under a 600hps. fan does 600 m3/hour through a 6 inch 50cm long carbon filter and 12 inch passive intake from loft keeping temps in region of 75 low 90 high. Weirdly it's 75 lights on and 90 lights off. I Know why but can anyone guess as to why this is the case?

Maybe it's because your in the loft mate and all the heat from your house rises keeping the loft space and your tent nice and warm...nice grow mate

indeed, i have to have the lights off during the hottest part of the day or it hits 100 in there even with extraction of full. i've got it blowing the hot air into the bedroom during the night too so we get free nighttime heating. it was noisy as hell in the bedroom even with the fan upstairs and covered in insulation, so i had to get a silencer. went looking and thought i'd try accoustic ducting first as it's half the price, got a 5 metre run and it has totally silenced the noise in the bedroom. was purely airflow noise. Going to build a drying area for hanging clothes out of the washing machine directly under the output. I've come to love the smell of freshly scrubbed air

Got a scrubber setup in the room we smoke in too, my son used to say he could smell when we were smoking up in his bedroom, not that he bothered as he's an occasional toker himself. With the scrubber in our room you can't tell in the same room within a minute or 2 of the joint going out. 4 inch fan in an insulated box sitting on top of a 4 inch 30cm tall carbon filter that was used for a year in a growroom. i hang a length of duct from a screw in the top of the wall with a bent duct clip. it pulls hot smokey air from the top of the room and puts it back out through the filter at the bottom. Keeps our den nice n warm too

I have to confess the dealer weed tonight has been top notch thats whats turned a "mo" into hours heh heh

this little baby makes it 9 out of ten germinated from the fem ak47's from just feminised. That to me is an acceptable ratio. i dug out the 10th and she has sprouted a tap toor but only a couple of mm. so stuck her back in and moistened again. She might just make it.
