Do you know the actual name of those evil little bastards ?

They invaded several acres that belong to my dogs this spring and I tried repeated scalping with the rider but they were still out there from early March till early June then died off leaving those exact little spikes.

No vines here though, these are super low ground cover and have infested everywhere there is a blade of grass to hide under.

Looks like the official name is Tribulus Terrestris

From WIkipedia:
Tribulus terrestris is an annual plant in the caltrop family (Zygophyllaceae) widely distributed around the world, that is adapted to grow in dry climate locations in which few other plants can survive.[2] Its extracts are widely used by body builders.

It is an invasive species in North America. Like many weedy species, this plant has many common names, including goat's-head, bindii, bullhead, burra gokharu, caltrop, small caltrops, cat's-head, devil's eyelashes, devil's-thorn, devil's-weed, puncture vine, puncturevine, and tackweed.
