Hey guys. I’m starting my first grow and about to drop my beans in fox farm ocean Forrest soil with 30% perlite using a viparspectra 1200 in a 4x4 grow tent. The manual says to keep the light at 44”-48” for the first 3-5 days. Does this sound right? Seems a little to high? Please help!

Congrats and best wishes on your first grow! You may want to start a thread in the new growers section. Lots of support and folks checking in to support your journey.
Firstly, I’m not a fan of Ocean Forest. It is often cited in the Infirmary section. If you have access to other soils, consider them.
While 44-48 inches seems like a great distance, new starts struggle with super intense light, so I would follow the recommended, and only lower the lights if your seedlings begin to stretch.
Good luck and have fun!!
