I have a friend in Missouri that was having similar “attacks” and was diagnosed AGS. I reached out to him yesterday with some questions. Main thing he said is that it affects everyone differently. I was bitten by a tick early last year after hiking at Busiek State Park in SW Missouri. I remember it because while ticks will crawl on me, they don’t normally bite me (I chalk this up to having taken a garlic supplement for decades), this one dug in deep. You're the only other person I've seen post about alpha gal. My wife has it and we seem to be ground zero for it here in VA. She was a pescatarian before she contracted it so it hasn't been as hard for her. The main thing with her was giving up or having very little cheese. We likes the snooty cheeses...Every case seems to be a little different. Where do you think you contracted yours? That is if it is what you have...Haven't heard of many cases outside of the southeast
Find it odd that this pops up suddenly right when the powers that be are trying to limit/eliminate meat production/consumption.....
I’d noticed that the last couple of times that we had beef, I was miserable with repeated gastro attacks that feel like what I would imagine a heart attack feels like (trapped gas). And they only go away when I can make myself burp. Also brain fog and extreme fatigue. My friend back home suggested I just have chicken or fish with veggies and see how I feel. So, the last couple days, that’s what I’ve done and I’ve felt great. As far as dairy goes, I’ve always had a slight intolerance to certain dairy products so, I’m mindful of that.
I hate doctors. I never go. So, I want to avoid a bunch of other tests (gallbladder, allergy, etc.) if I can and ask up front for a AGS test. If that’s NOT it, I’m open to other tests, of course. As far as gluten goes, I’m still going to avoid it even IF it’s not the culprit because it’s just not good for us and it’s fairly easy to avoid.
