Live Stoner Chat Live Stoner Chat - Jan-Mar '25

So it's 7 am and I'm in the middle of the city traffic in Lincoln, NE, population of about 300,000.

I pulled up to a stop light, and my battery light comes on, my engine dies, and I have NO BRAKES. I put the vehicle into park and I'm still moving forward, finally brakes. I said "wow, that was super fucked up, never had that happen before." Go to the next light, same thing, almost rear ended someone.

Decided to drive it back home (an hour drive, but few stops,) but I had to get past 2 stop lights. So I put on my flashers, drove REALLY fucking slow, and managed to hit all lights as they were green. Got my truck to the local shop here and asked them to diagnose.

Front brake pads at 0%.
Rear brake pads at 1%.
Brake lines need flushing, not sure if it's a leak or just used up but all brake fluid was gone.
New rotors needed front and back.
Battery testing at 60%.

$1500 in parts and labor quoted.

It's been a shitty fucking ass morning.
Fuck that bro! Look for a mobile mechanic that will come to u and buy the parts yourself! U get a mad increase on cost for parts thru most shops unless its like a small mom and pop type shop! My last major issue that left me getting car towed my water pump seized! Pump was Only $110 but the mechanic shop next to autozone where it broke down wanted like $360+ for the part alone so was over an $800 quote on a job i did myself with no previous experience changing in just over an hour!

Bruh, that's a YouTube and DIY project for that much.

Like @Drownomatic said brakes and rotors are easy! Get the caliper press loaner tool from auto zone to easily depress the piston once removed! 4 wheel disk brakes super easy and rotors usually have a large diameter Phillips screw or a small bolt depending on age of vehicle and rotor comes right off! Hardest part would be flushing brakes but also easy with a helper to pump brake pedal while u bleed the air from lines!

And with a general multimeter you can test battery voltage and with car running alternator voltage to make sure its not failing and no longer properly recharging the battery!

No warning of this? Brake pads have a squeal shim on then to audibly notify you before they get critical.

I had to slam on the brakes going about 65+ MPH on the interstate recently; I'm pretty sure that toasted whatever was left of the brakes. Some lady just decided to brake hard with a line of cars in behind her and everyone was squealin' and braking so hard they almost went in the ditch. I replaced the back brakes a few years ago, and the guy that replaced them told me I didn't need to replace the front brakes, so I took his word for it.

Emergency brake failed too?

That broke years ago. I just don't park on hills/slants. lol

Hey @Son of Hobbes what kinda vehicle u needing this work done on?

2001 Ford F-150.

It's already in the shop fellas; I'm not car guy and it's -10 below zero here, I don't feel like fucking around playing YouTube mechanic in the cold when I don't know what I'm doing.

All 3 of our vehicles had electrical problems due to rats eating wires.

We bought a repellent..thought it worked....but it hadn't.

Currently have the cars parked bonnet first into Lavender..... apparently they hate any Strong smells....so I pour strong disinfectant around the parking space........... don't know if it works yet.........:headbang:
Moth balls might be worth trying, most rodents seem to hate the odour.

We have also had mice inside the fresh air system of two vehicles - all intakes are now screened with steel mesh. There is no end of mischief that those buggers get up to, and not just vehicles. I suspect that more than one house has burned down from rodents chewing wires when the little buggers get into the walls. Ya don wanna get me going on bloody rodents and the problems they cause. :pighug:

Trim jail about half done for the day. This is (24CxAPK)xWDA, a cross that I did for sleep. It looks like another around 200g, maybe more, hard to say at this stage:

The pink color is nice, likely from both APK and WDA, although my 24C has some color in its genetics as well. At this stage, a nice spicy Kush aroma to my nose. It will mostly go to extract. The three strains in the cross are the best sleep strains I have tried, so the mix should be interesting. :pighug:

House directly across the street from me burned down due to mice chewing on wires. Cats got old and stopped catching the mice. Firemen got the cats out but the lady who lived there didn't make it out
