I wish I had some of my Moms cast iron skillet fried chicken right now!!! I think it was in the mid 60s when we got our first KFC in our little bitty town. We tried it once.Home deep fryers are a pain in the ass unless you're gonna use it all the time. You can have mine Your mom's gotta have a cast iron pan somewhere already
We wanted to try so Dad and I went and got enough for the family, including his mother. Grandma seldom gave Mom any compliments.
When my D ad asked her how she liked her KFC, she said, "Your wife's chicken is much better!"................. Grandma, the master of passive aggressiveness!
With her, that was a hard pill to swallow.
Pop and I couldn't have been in more agreement! Moms chicken was great when served fresh and hot, but there was really something about it when taking it on a picnic. I don't know what happens to it or if it's just plain 100% perception , it sure tasted better!! Maybe it's that sort of camping thing that goes back to early human survival.
Damn! That chicken shirt was good!
