If the ph is that low you have acid rain from some industrial source? I would recommend recommend an RO unit on your tap water.

Unfortunately yes they (USGS) say it's historically from industrial and power plant emissions. Not just here its good portion of the states. It's actually really improved since the 70s and 80s and still improving they say. Below is an explanation of how they say pollution causes acid rain.
I see the state of NH and Vermont are reporting that 5.6 is actually pretty close to normal and it's acidic due to dissolved CO2. IDK ?
