Be careful with an active 5 gallon fermentation, they can blow the water and/or lids out of those fermentation locks. make sure there is enough head space so the stuff does not spurt/bubble up on the valve and stop it up. It can blow up a glass carboy
Been there and done that.
Just use a ladle or small pot to scoop out the ferment for straining.
Ps. do you put them in the grow space while fermenting to use the Co²?
