Yes He is the best Old Toyota truck mechanic in the state, maybe the best period!
You are fortunate indeed to have him available. Not in the cards in most places, not even close. Getting a quality engine rebuild on anything short of an industrial diesel nowadays is almost always a crap shoot, and regularly a screwup.

Thanks for the rep, @Bill.de.Cat and @Mossy!

I declare it's the kids that keep me going. I put my mom (RIP) through a lot when I was young, going from dysfunctional teen to a life at sea on all manner of disreputable boats. I know she fretted wondering what month or what year she'd get a postcard sent a month or 2 before from some obscure 3rd world seaport. So now it's my karma to mentor troublesome outcast kids.

Those kids are lucky to have you. It is all too easy to underestimate the positive effects we can have on others' lives with a small amount of effort. :worship:

ok, i'm speakin loosely here, cuz i can never remember the detailz of it all....cuz i'm a stoner , but it basically all goez back to the 30'z here in america with the marijuana tax law & one mofo in general who was more or less the "drug czar" back then, long before the dea & controlled substancez act & all that happee horseshit....and no, i can never remember his name, cuz, u guessed -> i'm a stoner :smoking: ppp

The name of the asshole is Harry Anslinger. He was the first commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics which became the dea. Without getting too political, the reason is the same as what governments are doing today: Control and $. They used fear and racism to sell the ban. Sound familiar?

From what I remember from MANY years ago, it pretty much started in Texas and was because of the Mexicans using, growing and transporting(NOT like we see today) canna into Texas and border states. As in most governmental affairs, it was purely an effort in control of the masses.
Then, like now, there's just too many people taking for granted the govt is giving out accurate information without questioning it.

I think it was about control you had these newly formed agencies for prohibition that when it ended that wanted something to do. I'm sure William Randolph Hurst wanted his trees he owned to be used for paper. I think it was alot of greed that made it illegeal they just used ppls racism to help get it passed. I think it was about money and with Nixon he wanted to more power and go after his political opponents who were smoking cannabis. Just like today it's being made legal because they can get more money from it being legal and still fight the illicit producers.
Oh boy Mr Hurst :vibe: How many people do you know where one of their children robbed a federal bank with a machine gun and got let go ?

Yes indeed I am lucky to have access to this man. there are three re-builders for the 22RE in the state of California that I would trust to do the job. The waiting list is 9 months to a year. I was so fortunate that when we went to just put new valve guide seals - one thing lead to another and he just decided to go for it.

It is back in the truck and he may even start it today. It is more likely to be Wednesday as he works at his other business tomorrow, Marlin's Crawlers.

Almost every bolt is new, It was assembled before using mostly the wrong bolts - who knows every bolt on a vehicle besides this man? I have every confidence in Marlin.
