Hi,

I've been told a couple of different things with regards to lighting. I'm only growing 2 at a time.

1. A normal 70w bulb would be fine for autoflowers
2. A strip light for a aquarium that operates in certain spectrum to promote growth.

What's everyone else's views?

I would stick to lights designed for plant growth, how big is your space dude? Oh and welcome to the site lol

hi J!
Its around 4ft x 5ft an about 6ft tall. so not a major operation! Was thinking about getting a 4ft strip light with a bulb from an aquarium shop. I was kinda dubious about a normal light bulb tbh!

Don't even waist your time with a regular bulb or even a aquarium light ,they are not meant for growing. At least get a couple of 100 watt eguiv cfl's with a reflector and hang about six to eight inches above plants.

I have a limited budget for lighting at the moment around $80. I have read that I should use 6500K strip light for vegging and a 2700K for flowering.

As Namvet said go with the cfl for your budget you can get a 300w dual spectrum cfl with reflector and plug for around £37 (about $60)

A 600W or 1000W HPS is best, 400 min if you are serious about getting things done. I had 600ws of CFL and dropped the lot for 600W M/H & HPS for flowing.
