this will be first grow I've germinated my seeds, planted and now they've sprouted to be around an inch or maybe just over a couple days after breaking the soil, I've had the plants on 24/0 under 300w cfl & they look healthy enough but after reading more in depth I'm considering using 20/4 or even 18/6 so what I'm asking is will I harm/stress them by changing the lighting schedule? and if I was to change it when would be best? now while they're only couple days old or??? any help/knowlage would be greatly appreciated new time grower trying to learn the ways! thanks.

I'm finishing up my first grow and I changed my light cycle purposely around 2.5-3 weeks in. I started my hps at about 240watts 24/0 till I got my second set of true leaves or so ands then I kicked it up to about 400 watts while maintaining 24/0. Around week three when I got into pre flowering I kicked it up to full strength 600 watts and switched my light schedule to 18/6. Check out my link below and see my results and see how they plant was affected as I documented it all. With such a great response I think I will b doing this always. But I'd also like to run a test of the same strain running 18/6 all the way through to see if it makes a difference. I have no proof in either direction of what is best. But I can tell you what I got in the end is great and changing cycles, in my grow, did not seem to have a negative effect. Changing of light cycles in this form going from 24/0 to creating a dark period is in the plants nature anyway I feel like. Change away. Just don't do it a bunch or very often lol

Dropping your hours won't upset your plant, just slow it/slightly reduce yield. I now run 24/0 and would recommend it, but when I did use to change to 20/4 it'd be after 3-4 weeks. Good luck

thanks a lot for the advice guys! so would you recommend leaving on 24/0 or to change to 20/0 or 18/6 & would you do it now while only a few days old or 24/0 while in veg and switch a couple week in (pre flower)

24/0 as long as you can. Maybe turn it down after 12 weeks.....
