Indoor lighting costs

I am using a 250 grolux hps light. I am a noobie and i have read of the different types of lights. What are the leccy costs of other types of lights? For instance i think some people use other lights for the first few weeks to cut costs, without affecting yield. Any tips will be appreciated.

look at this test grow. the guy uses cfls, then hps, then higher wattage hps for the purpose of saving energy + it's easier on seedlings and he gets good results: http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=259356
