Like a lot of other people i have been thinking of making the change, mainly due to electric costs and heat. I have searched around and i am still not sure what to get. I live in the UK. I have seen a brand called "budmaster" and they say the 675 model will cover 1.2 x 1.2, eqiuvilent to 600 watts. At present i am using two 600 watt lamps for 8 plants and i am happy with that size, although my area is slightly bigger, maybe 1.2 x 1.4

Has anybody here made a similar change? can give me any pointers? I don,t have a "couple of years" to perfect it and learn due to age. (am 64 and intend to retire to India in a years time) Ideally i will learn from the first grow and be up and running. I don't have the time or money to spend 3 or 4 grows getting it right.

Any help would be appreciated.
cheers

If you can withstand all of the associated flat cap wearing, whippet keeping, and pigeon fancying then there is a lot to be said for growing in a Northern way. Checkout their forum here (https://www.autoflower.org/index.php?forums/grownorthern-led.109/), it's not cheap, but seems to produce cracking results for not much electricity (so properly suitable for a tight fisted Northerner once you're running it, if less to to buy it in the first place). I'm not sure how many units would be required for an equivalent setup.

Going by the mention of Budmaster and 675W, I'm going to assume the pricetag of ~£750 isn't a barrier.

As mentioned above, for that kind of wonga, TaNg gives a very compelling case for 2 x Grow Northern HS1's, coming in at ~£700 in this thread

For something different, you could always consider a GroGlow 600W.
Another UK based manufacturer. No online grow journals to evidence results, but contact them direct; they're very approachable and friendly.

thank you all, i am off to India soon until january. I will see how things go, gonna check the GN HS1s out and keep my eyes open for any other tips
cheers

Gotta ask, why would you WANT to retire to India? I dont know if you could pay me enough to move there.... If you dont have time or money to learn LED, Id stick to HPS, since you already have them.

Have you been to India? if so i assume you didn;t like it, i do. I have enough money to try LEDs but not the time for 4 or 5 grows to perfect the skill.

I havent been there, but its high on the list of countries most likely to be destroyed by nukes, thanks to their unstable relationship with pakistan and theres a lot of poverty and medical care is subpar at best. I know many Indian immigrants to the US and not many are in a big hurry to return. If you really want to move to a 3rd world country, there might be better choices available. I hear some of the countries in south america are really nice....

California lightworks either solar storm 440 or solar storm 880 . You will thank me later
