Mephisto Genetics KiS Bio Char Mix Meets Mephisto

I got a question for @KIS Do you think highly chlorinated and fluoridated
tap water with a ph in the mid 8's could be used if I added vitamin c powder to the water? Saw a guy claiming vitamin c powder neutralizes the chlorine and chloramines. What are your thoughts?
Yes citric or ascorbic acid will work to remove chlorine/chloramine but it doesn't last long at least in keeping pH down with the citric acid. I'd suggest lowering pH with citric over vitamin C since the ascorbic acid won't do as much to adjust the pH to optimal levels.

Thank you @KIS
I been using RO for a few years because the tap here is so terrible. But collecting the RO is becoming a pita.
I still don't want the fluoride building up in the pots, so I'll probably just deal with the pita. RO comes out 6.5 ph, which is pretty good.

Sam was grown with rain water .... I simply removed bottom elbow from downspout and collected in 5 gallon buckets - at one time I had some 12 five gallon buckets full of rainwater ..... of course with tap water, if I had to use, I would let it sit for several days before using.

I live in a rain gutterless house, so collecting would take some enginuity. Wish I could get some rain here, soooo hot and dry right now.

Should RO not come out at PH 7? Mine does and EC is 0. I use a 7 stage unit to polish the water.

Or do you mean ro is rain water?

My RO unit has a remineralization stage, and it comes out at 60ish ppm, and ph 6.5. Tap water going in is 250+ ppm and ph north of 8.
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out.:d5:

I have many questions. Still formulating my thoughts!

Make sense then. Coming from a reef tank environment, I always aimed at 0 for the end RO.

You would never want to drink it or give to plants !!!!

I am blessed as I have rain water which is clear, creek water that’s clears river water with sediment and filtered well water - five stage filter with ultra violet light on well so covered summer or winter and all water has ppm 23 or less with PH around 6.5ish to 6.75 - so about as perfect as you can get for water sources .....

Water PH not nearly as critical with Organics as with hydro .... Hydro you better be spot on with Organics 6.25 to 7.0 even 7.25 I think you’ll be fine, especially with bio char soil as soil helps buffer - adjust PH .....

Never ever worried about PH growing Organics, maybe add more peat moss to soil to help bring down but that’s about as far as I’ve ever gone!

Nice plants you have. Yeah I'm definitely grabbing some Mephisto gear when I get paid. Everywhere I turn I'm seeing their gear growing and not just on this site. Once again nice plants buddy :pass:
