Hey all! Allow me to reintroduce myself. I've been a mainly outdoor photoperiod grower in Holland for more than 25 years now but I had to lay low for a few years until certain aspects of my life moved out. Well, all I can say is let the games begin. I'm hoping to get back in touch with some of my old friends on here too!
Enough about my boring old self though! As I only have a balcony in the sun nowadays instead of my big secluded back yard I'll be growing some of the newest Dutch Passion autofems. So this wont be a race for the biggest yields but more a test to see which autofems flourish outside in a fairly northern climate.
This is the list of candidates:
-Auto Night Queen
-Auto Daiquiri Lime 3X
-Auto Compassion Lime
-Auto Cinderella Jack
-Auto GlueBerry OG 2X
Now, I must admit that I made a rookie mistake two weeks ago by trusting my standard cutting and seedling potting mix (Zaai en Stekgrond) which I've used for over a decade to my fullest satisfaction. The mixture was taken over by the commercial Dutch brand Pokon. This has been detrimental to my first batch of seeds! After germination the seedlings simply stopped growing. I was shocked to say the least as I'm usually 10 for 10 with Dutch Passion seeds. So I took some measurements of the potting mixture which after 5 days at 23 degrees Celsius smelled of ammonia. The EC of the drip off was a staggering 7.6 at a Ph of 8.5!!! So I started over with the remaining seeds and I used inert coco coir as a germination medium. I had the first seeds pop the surface after 48hrs. This is more like I'm used to with Dutch Passion! Kudos!!!
So now the girls are at day 7 and rearing to go! I thought this would be a nice point to start this thread. I took some pictures with my phone and now I'm figuring out how to get them on my laptop and subsequently on this forum right side up... Lolz.
Now for the technical stuff... I gave the seeds a 24hr dunk in soft tapwater and then I planted them in their individual pots. All taproots were peeking out of the seeds after the dunk. Very enthusiastic seeds I must say! I havent given any additives as of yet. I'll be transplanting them as soon as i can lift the root ball out of the pots safely. I'm gonna use 10l square pots which I already had. I'll run them through the dishwasher to sterilize them. But more on that later.
Please feel free to chime in and share your thoughts with me? I hope to have a lot of fun with y'all this summer!
Sincerely, Ken357
