Hi all!

I'm back with a new journal here in the new grower's forum. I've just recovered from a disastrous failure with two White Widow Cheese crosses:fire:, and I'm back in the saddle with another WWC and a Pineapple Kush. Going with Happy Frog soil this go round, but am sticking with my CFL's (2 125w 6400K).

I germinated both seeds in paper towels and planted them on June 26. WWC sprouted five days later, but PK lagged behind. When she finally showed herself, it was apparent that something was very wrong. She just looked really puny. Since I just had such a bad time with my last grow, I decided to cut bait on her early and started to germ another PK.

Here are the girls today (day 13 and 5):

Hopefully, the age difference won't be a problem since they're going to have to spend their lives in the same tent.

I just gave WWC her first real watering. The soil tested at 6.7 pH on my Accurate8 meter. The water was adjusted to 6.4 (EcoTester pH2 pen). The runoff also tested at 6.4. Temps in the tent are averaging around 80F and the humidity is in the low 50%'s. The lights are on 24/0 right now. I'll switch to 20/4 when PK gets a little bigger.

Everyone please send a little good grow karma our way and follow along on our journey! :pop:

Cheers, y'all :toke:
Jenny

Thanks, stepside!

And a P.S.
There were requests from my dear friends over in the infirmary forum for pics of my stunning failure last time around.

WARNING these are NOT for the faint of heart!

This is what happens when you don't use proper pH monitoring equipment and don't ask enough questions! Lesson learned

:woohoo: Finally, front row seats! :pop::pop::pop:And big time :karmacloud: for your gals, Jenny.

The only stunning failure is not learning from past mistakes. You've geared up, so I'd call that last grow a successful learning experience. I once treated a severe Ca Mg problem with Epsom salt.... hmmm. It fixed the magnesium issue, but I was too excited to grasp there was zero calcium in the mix. :face: Leaves fell like rain.
Have a well deserved :slap: for giving it another whirl, Jen, and here's to a monster harvest! :pass:

Jenny,

Please keep us posted on your plants. It's a little to late in your game to make a difference now but Happy Frog has a pretty bad rap lately. You didn't say so in your first post but hopefully you added a fair amount of lime to the mix before you started. Happy Frog was as low as a PH of 5.2 out of the bag. Mine was 5.4 if I recall correctly. There is a huge thread on another board about the problem. I have struggled using it even with the added lime. I am on my last two plants growing in it now(70% Happy Frog 30%Perlite) and won't use it again. I am a little worried looking at your pictures the larger plant, I assume is the 13 day old seems very small for the age. Comparing it to a few pictures of my past plants your 13 day old is equal to my 5 day olds. Your day 5 plant about like my day 2. They don't seem to be stretching so it's not your lights. When watering a young plant likes yours try to just water an area just a few inches in diameter around the plant. Let the water soak straight to the bottom of the pot. This helps draw the roots to the bottom of the pot early and I feel helps build a slightly larger and stronger plant. Also really focus on the wet dry water cycle as they get older. Happy Frog seems to be a fairly HOT soil for autos and keeping it to wet will cause more problems with nute burn and PH issues. A good grower needs to learn when to water their girls and not always rely on a meter.

I wish you the best with your new grow and am eager to see your little ladies because big fat resin filled bitches!

Hey, Bunz, you can't say anything bad about FoxFarms in this forum. Rules have been broken here.
:funny::funny::funny::funny::funny::funny::funny::funny: KIDDING!!!
Amen, I've heard the same thing about FF, not just with HF, but with OF as well. Wild pH readings, still in the bag. If Jenny's soil ph'ed at 6.7, (at least in the go zone:thumbsup:), then good fortune is already smiling on this grow.
Excellent tips on watering. :d5:
