Hey guys, I wasn't sure where to put this thread, hope I got it right ☺
Please help me identify this bug, he jumps like a grasshopper and munches holes in leaves. I squashed his tail a bit but the head is intact.
Is it a nymph grasshopper?
And how do I stop it baring in mind I cannot buy neem oil in these parts.
Thanks!

Ps the solid line squares are 1cm

:toke: Capt'n- it looks mostly like a kind of leaf hopper,... sap suckers though, not leaf munchers,...are you sure, I mean witnessed this thing eating holes? They don't have the mouth parts for it,... as a group, they're very mobile, and in huge numbers, so no long term fix short of a systemic product,.. a mild soap spray (castille or something) might drown them, otherwise, it's "manual" pursuit!

Thanks for the reply Waira.
No I did not witness this guy eating leaves but assumed he was responsible for the damage on the plants. There are only a few of them so manual pursuit it is
That means something else is muching my leaves...

These bugs tend to sit at a node on the stem....sucking sap as it seems

yep if the doc says its a sap sucker then a sap sucker it is!

If you want to catch the culprits get a sticky trap or two and put them around your plant that way you will catch em all and you can identify which leaf eatin bastard it is. Do oyu have pics of the leaf damage, that can help a lot

I put up some yellow vasoline coated paper a few days ago to get the few white flies that were hanging around and they have since disappeared but I can't see any on the paper.

Due to the part of the world I live in I promised myself I would never take a pic

you already took one of the bug bro, take one of just the leaf damage not showing the whole leaf, you can do it

Something ripped a few 1 to 2cm bit of yellow paper off one of the traps too. Not rat or mice like, more bird like
