Best time to scrog your autos is about 7 days after you see your first pistils. That’ll give you enough preflower time for your small/weaker nodes to grow and stack, but not too much preflower time where they’ll get too tall and pressure you into rescrogging. If you scrog too late and dont have enough preflower time the middle of your canopies will have a hard time filling in and might leave you with some bare spots. | 5-7 days after your first pistils show with autos | I bend the main top over with a bent coat hanger stake at day 16 and keep the top pinned down for a couple weeks which helps promote more mains and a lot more side branching and I’m also guaranteed the largest kolas from not topping. I flatten the plants out about 5-7 days after I see my first preflower pistil and that usually gives me another couple weeks of preflower stretch to help my weaker lower nodes stack and grow into huge kolas. Even the nodes at the very bottom of the plant that usually gets picked off (lollipopped) grow into big kolas. If you scrog out to early the lower nodes grow too tall and you end up with more larf from no light penetration in the middle of the plant and if you scrog out to late the lower nodes don’t have enough preflower time to stretch and stack. Timing is very important with this method! | |||
The 420 method is a lot different than your typical scrog. If you thumb through the thread you can see that my autos are grown naturally with basic LST started around day 15 and then completely flattened out down to the base of the stock during preflower, which is not done in your average scrog. The net in a typical scrog is used to even out a canopy or cola support and with the 420 method the net is for training only. There is also no lollippoping under the net like you see people do in a regular scrog and a lot more defoliation/canopy maintenance is required with the 420method. There’s absolutely no waste with this method and even the smallest nodes turn into some of the largest colas on the plant. | If you’re going for the 420 method timing is very important so good to scrog out your autos 3-5 days after seeing your first preflower pistil or about 10 days after flip with photos. This allows the last remaining stretch to be done under the net and by keeping all your main branches pointing horizontal the energy will be diverted to the smaller nodes in the middle which helps create a nice canopy of colas. | I’m constantly defoliating starting from day 20 but I do my first leaf strip (schwazz) when I’m prepping them for the net. I’ll do 2 to 3 more during flower but it all depends on how much foliage each individual plant grows. The first Critical Orange Punch I just posted required 4 schwazzings to get her to where she is and the other Critical Orange Punch only needed 3 rounds, so the amount of pruning varies from plant to plant. |
Im on a 18 on 6 off light cycle, what ppfd do you recommend for the light? Its a full spectrum led diablo hlg 350 with dimmer. Should i do a brand new mixture in the resevoir then?900 is probably pushing a little hard what’s the light schedule 24/0 18/6?
Also looks like she’s getting little bit dark and some slight clawing try reducing the nitrogen if your using calmag stop that first

Should i be installing my net and plucking some of the big fan leaves today as well?Wouldnt worry about the side branches too much, those will be super-cropped eventually anyway when you drop the net.
Have you gone to page one of the main scrog thread? Its all right there step by step. Im not 100% sure what youre doing with your plants and what environment they are in, but if i was unsure i would go to that first page and just follow along the best you can. I am already defoliating by this point but your plants look they have some issues that need to be addressed to give you the best outcome. A small amount of stress is necessary and provided by the process. The net will come soon when your plants are taller. The goal now is to get as many branches generated as possible by keeping that top down for a while, when they get a but taller you will be super-cropping those girls by breaking their branches strategically at the level you will drop the net. You arent quite there yet. I cant stress enough tho, if its your first time and you are brand new to autos, go to beginning of the main thread. So much valuable info and everything he does step by step. My next bit of guidance would be to get your environment dialed and feed adressed, cal mag can introduce excess nitrogen amd cause all kinds of problems. Id only use cal mag if youre using RO water. Your plants look pretty dark and are clawing a bit indicating excess N and maybe some humidity issues.Should i be installing my net and plucking some of the big fan leaves today as well?
The plant started showing a few pistils 2 days ago, i plan on making my new mixture of water to feed today, what ec should i be looking to get it to? Its rain water so i wont be starting with more than like 50 ec overall. Ive got gh armor si, gh floranova bloom and grow, gh rapid start, gh floralicious, and clonex. Should i be adding nutes more along the lines of preflower? Or still vegHave you gone to page one of the main scrog thread? Its all right there step by step.
