ive grown with hps for years but crazy high electric bills are forcing my hand to led. The shop I get all my nutes etc from always advised me against them but I’ve read a lot of positive and the cost is now the main driver

I always grow a selection of autos in a 4x8 ft tent, NFT hydro, generally 2 or 3 strains and a couple of plants for each

I’ve used these bulbs for years

- prostar cfl 5500 lumens for seeds to shoots
- PowerPlant hps 600w superveg for Few weeks of veg
-sylvania 600w hps for flower which ends up being 80% of the entire grow

What do you guys recommend? I am running in circles and my usual go to shop is no help on this subject.

Help please

Check out FOLUX SOLUTION LED, they are amazing

Cobs , strips & quantum boards work very well as documented on this site , do some research & pick what suits you best , don’t let someone pick for you . You’ll be happy with any of the 3 mentioned , if your handy with DIY you can build your own & save a lot ! Someone will post some links I’m computer illiterate practically lol.

I’ve read it all and going round in circles.

I actually do want someone to pick for me. Reason I put my current light info is so I can get suggestions on compatibles. ideally someone will have had a similar setup and could give some advice on their journey to LEDs. No interest in diy, I’d always rather pay for a pro job

Are you any good at D.I.Y if you are look at samsung Fstrips or influx the f-strips, use lm561 and the influx use 301b diodes then find a driver to match. If you just want plug and play HLG or Chilled led.

hey @Toppsy7 how you doing my man... so you want to go LED. The best move you will make... if we choose the right LED's, one you will see tricombe production increase and after a few grows you may see an increase in yield by 50% (strain dependant)

I can help you make the right decision but before I do two question need answering

01 - How much you willing to spend ?

02 - are you a DIY kinda guy ?

Hey mate, cheers it was actually your long posts that have helped until now! I’ve watched some of those long YouTube links too

From what I have seen I don’t want/ can’t afford cobs as they only cover one plant and I tend to grow 4-8 a time - so I think the boards are the way to go and I ideally want something that will cover all phases of growth.

I think around 200-300 per light.. assuming I need 2 (I have a 2.4x1.2m tent and have 2 hps in there) but I am willing to go higher for extra savings in power use/ better light coverage etc

I honestly didn’t think I would have time/ skill for the diy option

its going to be tricky to get a pre built LED with the Samsung diodes for that price... for just a 1.2 x 1.2 you will need 4 QB's which is a HLG 550 pre built and your you will be paying 3 times the amount you have suggested... your only option is DIY for that kind of cash... seriously DIY is super super easy and HLG make it even easier if you buy on of there kits... where in the world are you base sir?
