Hi guys i want to start my first grow and i was wondering what would be best for my plant. Can i just use a Hps lamp 600w or a few cfl's ? Just for 1 plant.

I think that's kinda up to you. You can do both.
The HPS will give more light and because of that probably a higher yield at harvest, but will use more electricity and cause more heat. Depending on how much CFL you'd plan to use there would be a smaller harvest (correct me when wrong experts ;) ) but less heat and electricity costs.

I used to grow with cfl and trust me it aint worth it if you ask me,when I switched to hps my yield increased by 100%,the electricity might be higher but it will pay off, good luck.

The electricity costs and the heat no problem just want a higher yield.

Than use the hps you will not regret it,here is my grow with cfl and hps just to show you the difference,on the left is cfl and on the right is hps.

Now i see thanks for the advice and keep on growing. :Growing:

But for one plant I would say that 600w hps is overkill. You be fine with just 250w hps for one plants.

Yeah man get a 250w HPS. You could grow 2 solid plants with thst and heat/electricity cost won't really be an issue. I also use a few cfls just for a little extra lighting once the plants get pretty big. Don't get me wrong, a 250 hps will still put off some heat but it's manageable with the right fans. You can check out my grow...I'm currently doing 2 diesel berry's with a 250 hps in a 3×2 ft tent.

Hps all the way. Its better to grow into a set up, rather than constantly upgrade. You'll end up spending twice as much trying to catch up with your new addictive hobby. Go with the 600, I guarantee those 1 or 2 plants will double and then triple until you're like damn I need another 600w
