New Grower How to retain the smell and taste of bud

Yes, everyone cites retaining or even bringing-out smell through curing. But how does one increase odor in the first place, during bloom?

The strain can play a big factor... Best to grow bought seeds from a reputable breeder or seeds you find in some gooood smoke... Be cautious if you grow bagseeds from quality smoke expect Hermie traits if there weren't many seeds Id definitely grow a bagseed though and do... But if you use seeds from brickweed for examples that stuff is usually bred for high yields and practically the tiniest smell possible for easy transport... A nice skunk strain if healthy will smell very loud...

Grab a fan leaf and rub the stem and smell your fingers that's what the buds will smell like... It can take few weeks of flower before a smell even forms and even then the bulk of the smell doesn't typically come until mid to late flower and when it does... It does... My first successful flower was WITHOUT a filter because well how bad can a single small plant smell after all? Well that 2.5oz plant every night an hour or so before lights cut on would stink to high heaven I mean I could smell this single plant that's in my closet from the god damn sidewalk.... Do you have any pics of your plants? Keep in mind that the cure doesn't necessarily increase smell... What it does however is it gets rid of that green chlorophyll smell that can cause bud to smell like hay or like Reggie does... So a proper dry and cure is just as important as growing a healthy plant. Because even if it smells when you chop if you don't do it right you may not get the smell back right..

Also keep in mind that if you stay in the same general area of the plant and smoke weed ect it can easily smell without you knowing maybe bring a friend in and see if they smell weed and if they do say you were smoking it up.

But again man I'd recommend you go rub your finger between fan leaf stems and see if you get a nice smell... Even when my plants don't smell quiet yet I can usually get a smell after rubbing stems or just brushing the plants with my hands in general and getting them moving.

Along the lines of "A nice skunk strain if healthy will smell very loud," might some or even all of these 'loud' smells be from sulhydryl or other sulfur-containing substances rather than terpenes/essential oils? Might sulfur-containing nutrients in soil/media be associated with dank and strongest smells? For example, I associate herb grown in volcanic soil as smelling loudly. Any reports of sulfur supplements, perhaps the simplest being epsom salts, increasing odor levels?

Thats way beyond me lol no clue... with good genetics ive never had to add anything to get a smell. The only plants ive had poor smell from were poor quality bagseeds from reggie most likely from south of the boarder lol. Id imagine you could add stuff to the soil to possibly improve but it shouldnt be needed though to produce a smell. Usually I dont get a bad smell until late flower and if I want to know how it will smell in the future I rub my fingers along the fan leaf stems and then smell my fingers... usually itll give off a nice smell if you are far along enough in the grow. But as for quality plants having no smell in late flower? Absolutely no clue what so ever it’s something ive never experienced though wished I have at times.... you think tweakers get paranoid Jesus Christ grow without a filter in a neighborhood lmao... when the smell would make it out to the sidewalk ect id be paranoid as fuck every single noise id hear id be jumping and lookin.

Also keep in mind I grew the shit genetics alongside the good genetics in the same mediums in the same conditions... for example my last grow I grew an apple jack bagseed and it smelled amazing but alongside it I grew unknown genetics from reggie and it was airy foxtailed and no smell minus green really. Whatever the apple jack got the random got and the apple jack smelled almost like a nice roasted coffee dank smell while the shit was shit just chlorophyll smell even after cure same with the taste... it was just weed I used to stretch the good stuff.

I have noticed that harvest timing is a lot to.do with it let.the terps get to adult hood and also use the BEST LIGHT POSSIBLE. I also start my cure early in paper bags still very wet then I slow dry and cure
