How much ascorbic acid do you use to remove chloramine on there?

I read that you can use ascorbic acid vitamin c powder to remove chloramine from tap water. I found this on amazon but I am wondering how big of a bag to order.

(Please correct me if I am wrong someone), but I believe that 7.5mg/L of ascorbic acid will neutralise 3.5mg/L of chloramine, but you need to know how much chloramine is actually in your water too to be able to calculate the amount you'd need accurately. You could contact your local water department to get the numbers.

So as an example, if your water has 0.5mg/L of chloramine in it as stated by your local water department, you divide the 7.5mg/L of ascorbic acid by 3.5mg chloramine, and then multiply that by the amount in your water to get the amount of ascorbic acid you'd need to use to neutralise the chloramine.

Example:
(7.5/3.5)*0.5 = 1.071mg/L, or 3.96mg/gallon.

As a side note, be wary that adding ascorbic acid into your feed will decrease the pH of the feed.

This works for chlorine, but chloramine can take weeks to release itself from the water IIRC. It's a bit more persistent. Another cheap solution could be to use a squirt of lime juice, but I'm not sure if this affects the grow in anyway.

Chloramines Removal

You are looking for ascorbic acid - vitamin C. The store brand is usually the cheapest without other stuff added in. 50mg per gallon will treat water with 3.8 PPM of chloramines. This is a typical municipal water treatment level.

Lime juice will reduce pH (same thing as ph down - citric or ascorbic acid)
My thoughts were chlorine was gone in a few hrs while cloramine took only a little longer (e.g. the full (&min) 24 hrs.
