How do you maintain your humidity? Any humidifier recommendations?

The only real downside to the evaportive units is the need for the filter. It also typically serves as the wick. They do get a bit gross and moldy but you are supposed to change them monthly. I've found a few drops of bleach in the reservoir extends their life significantly and cuts down on anything growing in there.

Just a heads up

The evaporative units don't humidify as well. Just something to keep in mind. I have mine controlled with an inkbird power strip. The simple units with just an on/off knob are what you want. A controller is definitely necessary. Leaving it running constantly will over do the space

An ultrasonic can make the walls drip. An evaporative cannot. Bit of a failsafe built in

Glad I could offer some useful advice.
Which ink bird do you use?

Finally have my first tent set up, and am about to pop some seeds. My humidity and temp sensor (AcuRite) shows a constant temp at 81 and humidity at 31. I would prefer that humidity at least over 40 (and I guess ideally at 55?), I also assume once the plants get bigger the humidity will shoot up.

This is a super soil grow using Stonington Blend from Coast of Maine. Two plants each in 7+ gallon Air-Pots watered with a Blumat drip,

How do you maintain your humidity? Should a bucket of water suffice or should I buy an actual humidifier?

Thanks again for all your help!
I needed a humidifier for my summer grow in SoCal. First one I tried was here I switched to this one. It's controlled by an InkBird controller and it's done a superb job. It's got a large tank, it retains settings if the power is interrupted, and the hoses allow you to direct the output where you need it. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

Hey friend! I am using the: ITC-608T

It has a plug for temp and one for humidity. You can set quite a few parameters which is nice. High/low values, how much drift you want to allow, say 3-4 degrees before on/off, alarms, etc... It's quite nicely built. Just follow the directions step by step through the manual and you'll be good. It looks complicated if you read through it.

I control a small heater on the one plug and my humidifier on the other. Takes a bit of futzing to get the settings just right and I will say, it works great but the numbers/sensors are not accurate in my experience. Occasionally I've had to unplug the sensor, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in. Maybe twice in a year. If things seem "off" just a quick reset works.

I have a couple of temp and humidity sensors in the tent. I go by the numbers on those and adjust the inkbird as needed. It does maintain temp and %rh very well but I want the tent at 77 degrees I have the inkbird set to 82. Same with %RH, some variation. Once it's set I do find that 1 degree down on the inkbird does 1 degree change according to the other sensors.

The Inkbird strip is able to be calibrated but I could never get them all to agree and I know at least two of my hygrometers are accurate and they are within 1/2 degree of each other.

I am doing the lung room thing. I have a dual tank manual Vornado. I would rather have a big topfill, but the price was right and it works great. They have an additive to put in the evaporative ones to keep shit from growing in them. The other one will clog your filter with dust if using tap water. Just make sure it is not digital if you are using a controller

Here is what I ordered. It's not a true top-fill but close enough.
Amazon.com: Pure Enrichment MistAire Eva - Mist-Free Evaporative Humidifier (2.8L) with Antimicrobial Filter, 4-Speeds, Large Room Coverage up to 500 sq. ft., and Auto Shut-Off Timer : Home & Kitchen

Evaporative coolers (even with their inefficiency compared to ultrasonic) were the obvious solution to the problem. Right in front of my face but didn't see the connection. Maybe it's this AvT I've been smoking. :haha:
I was reading some of the reviews on Amazon. Seems their may be a filter replacement issue.

I was running into similar issues lately.
I just purchased the following humidifier from Amazon UK. Randomly got a 20% discount on it too

My grow space is 1m x 1m x 2m and its doing a fantastic job at increasing the humidity without drastically increasing the temperature in the tent.

Humidifiers for Bedroom, 2.2L Cool Mist Humidifiers for Home, Air Humidifier & Nightlight, 30Hrs Runtime Easy to Clean, 28dB Quiet 360° Adjustable Rotation Nozzle, BPA-Free Auto-Shut Off, White Amazon product ASIN B09M3PPXFT
Good luck with the hunt and growing

this is the one I use in my 4x4, and I like it:
Honeywell QuietCare Cool Moisture Humidifier | Home Hardware

It is evaporative, so does not cover plants with dust from tap water. It has a wick that needs to be replaced sooner or later, but I think I will get through this grow without a new one.

I also pre-humidify the incoming air to the growdrobe by running all the air through a tote with cloth strips hanging into ~3" or so of water in the bottom of the tote. It bumps the RH up 10% or so as I recall before the air enters the 'drobe. Now that the plants are big, the Honeywell is no longer required in the growdrobe.

Good luck with it. :pighug:
