For your grow journals, do you count germination into the age or when it pop it's head out of the soil then it's day 1 ?

Let's say it's a 12 week strain. Once i place my seed into a cup of water, is that counted as day 1 or is day 1 counted only when it comes out of the soil ?

Really basic question but confusing too. Thank you :)

haha good question bro!Everyone is different. some do once they start germ and others once it pops out of soil. I really think that when it says 70 day strain they mean when it pops out of soil, and it make alot more since see how autos generally go over 70days but then saying 70 days from germination is a better advertisment. i count different from both methods, i count day 1 once the seed has germed and is planted into soil thats my day 1. really its up to you and how you want to go about counting days, im pretty sure its like alot of things in growing theres no right or wrong way just what ever make you feel more comforable:smokebuds:

I call it Day 0 (I'm a computer nerd), when it pops out of the soil. Either way it's only a day of so I think.

hey on this subject so if its a 70 day strain what do you look for to tell when its going from veg to bud Im at 40 days with mine and its putting on buds but is still growing. Will it stop getting taller and start putting on fatter buds ?? Im trying to figure out when to change my nutes for bud ??

Heck, I just used a yardstick, measured frequently, and made a judgement call. When she seemed to stop reaching, I switched.

Switch to flowering nutes whenever you want it to start fully budding. If its tall enough for you then next feed make the switch. But what most of the auto pros I've talked to do is wait until growth has commpletly stopped then make the switch since they are autos we want as much upward growth as possible before it goes fully into flower if you want you can start giving trace amounts. Like 1/8 1/4 stregth until you see growth stop you can do that as well.you will see 70 is ideal in anyones book but most autos if you want to get the most out of them yeild and quality they will go 75+days easy. Let it get as big as possible then make the switch, if it is big enough make the switch next feeding once again it up to you and what you perfer

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm counting day 1 when i see their head coming out of the soil. As to what IDS said, i guess it doesn't really matter and as long as you're happy/comfortable with it, just stick to it.

Would someone kindly recommend a decent PH meter for me that has good delivery price shipping to asia ?

When over half your stigmas have turnt Amber or orange your 3ntering the harvest period your plant will in most cases continue to grow @llot more than it already has... try to monitor the couler change from white to orange on the stigmas and when the majority of them are Amber its flowering time

First "true leaves" is day one for me. That is usually about a week after germination.

On a 70 day strain I figure most likely I'll be cutting somewhere between 78 and 85 days. Seems I average about 2 weeks later than most advertised run times.

Sounds like you've hit the stretch. Early flower most strains will have a significant growth spurt. That'll slow down and they'll focus on making bud. End of stretch is where I would aim for transition to flowering nutes.

Don't get hung up on run times. Many things can make your times and my times different. Harvest is the same as for photos. Retracted brown/orange hairs, milky with a touch of amber trichs. On bud, not sugar leaf. (Sugar leaves ripen faster)
